I'm wondering what the rule is for using rolled up towels and pool noodles. I am using a towel right now to help DS's recline in his TF while it is RFing. I thought that the pool noodle or towel had to stay in the seat bight(bite.. sp?) but the RFing recline foot is no where near the seat bight. If I just put it in the seat bight then I don't get any recline help at all. Is that when you need the pool noodle triangle or should you put the noodle/towel under the RFing recline foot? Does any of this make sense? I can provide pics if necessary.

I understand what you're talking about, but I've never worked w/ the TF so I don't know what to say, just bumping this I guess. Do you really need more recline for him at 2?

I am not familiar with the seat either but would say that the noodle/towel, if needed should be under the foot of the seat. For me most of the time that is right at the seat bite.

He does need more recline. The seat is quite upright w/o any extra recline. His head flops all over the place. I think the fact that the seat backs of my car seat are pretty contoured doesn't help much either b/c it just pushes the seat further away from the seat bight.

I can't imagine using a towel/pool noodle any other way with the TF other than underneath the foot. Would you be able to take a picture of how you have it right now?

Here are a couple pic's of when my TF was rf'ing, first with a pool noodle and more upright, the 2nd was with one of the dedicated level noodles that you can buy. It's a full 45* in the 2nd picture. The leveler noodles are so dense there was absolutely no way to get it more upright than that - hence the switch to a regular pool noodle. ;)

eta: I just realized I didn't fully answer your question. :o My general rule is in the seat bite, with the front of the base on top of it. If the edge of the base doesn't go that far forward, then you'd pretty much have to put it underneath the foot rather than in the seat bite - the problem is that it's possible it could slide forward. In a case like that, I would opt for a rolled towel which will extend further out from the seat bite and then compress, rather than a pool noodle which could potentially slip out of place. (Pool noodles compress most of the time too, but I think a towel may be better suited in this case. This is a case though where you may need to try both methods and see which gives the best install. I can't say exactly without putting my hands on the seat and seeing what works the best. Some things are easy to say yes or no to, others are more individual install specific and really need to be seen and touched in person to develop an opinion one way or the other. )
