I have a 5 year old, 47lb, 43" little girl we bought the safeguard go for. Although the instructions says it fits up to 52" she is very near too tall and I wanted to get advise. I wish I had a LATCH in the car, but it isn't in the budget to buy a new car now...MAN one year too old! The seat belt install says to wrap the lap belt around outside armrest, lap and shoulder belt through the seat path loops, and around the front of the inside armrest and latch the seatbelt. Our problem is the seatbelt is behind the seat back of the carseat and it does not allow the seat back to sit straight up, instead it is protruding around the seatbelt and reducing the height allowance of the seat. Is it possible the seat belt path loops are too long since they are not holding the seatbelt behind the back of the safeguard go seat? We have only used this seat a year and I am sooo upset to have to retire it and go to a booster at only 43" & 47lbs....help??!!

Are you using it outboard, with lap/shoulder belt? I haven't installed the Go with lap/shoulder belt so I wonder if that might be part of the issue. Maybe center with lap-only belt would be better (if there's adequate head support).

Hopefully someone else with more experience with this seat will chime in. Don't forget to call the toll free customer service number as well!

In my experience, the loops don't really hold the belt at all, they just sort of guide it.

I agree with Papooses, definitely call customer service.

Having said that, maybe try doing the top tether before you pull the seatbelt really tight?

When I tried out the Go! in my Suburban, I had to install it with the lap/shoulder belt too as I don't have LATCH either. I didn't have this problem though, as the previous poster said, the loops are more like guides and not as static as a traditional belt path. That said though, I did have to install it loosely, then attach the tether and tighten it somewhat tight, and then complete the install by tightening the belts, and then completely tightening the tether strap. It sounds harder than it is, but it wasn't a "easy" or "traditional" installation either. I did also question how long it would work for my child since I didn't have him there with me when I tried it out, but we ended up choosing to wait and see what else came out before we *HAD* to replace his seat so we didn't go with it.

You might want to try and find a tech in your area that has worked with this seat before, or take pictures of it installed and post them here so that some of the techs that have worked with it before can help you out.
