I would go with #2. Locking clips are supposed to go within an inch of the latchplate. I know that can be hard with the Radian, without the LC ending up on the edge of the belt path, which is probably why you tried it out like it is in #1, I'm guessing. #2 looks better, though, and doesn't appear to be teetering on the edge, at an odd angle, so it looks good to me.
What year/make/model is your vehicle, again?
Have you tried the Radian forward-facing yet? I just wonder how well it will work, considering how far forward of the bight those belt stalks are.

optcal illusion, but first pic is actually inside and completely flat - the 2nd pic kind of sits very close to the curved edge - i really thought first one was better - know its slightly more than 1 inch away - but it is flat not near any edges.... any other thoughts?
the car is a UK version X type Jaguar 2006
i have tried FF and am happier with outboard locations than in the middle - but does not puzzle well with Recaro young sports - so might have to rethink situation if using FF - although prob won't use ff in this car any time soon
it fits like a dream ff in dh car which is a range rover - although only outboard locations - deffo no chance in the middle. location of buckles are just too close and it sits on top of them!!!!!

Another vote for #2 here - it's not on the bend of the belt path, so is ok that way, and it's ok to go closer to the latchplate if 1/2" to 1" isn't possible.

#2 looks great!
Assuming you've got less an inch of movement at the belt path, I'd go with that one. :)
