View Full Version : Question Thread Subs - not getting all emails

I've noticed that I don't get email notices when an unregistered user replies to a thread to which I'm subscribed. Since this is usually how I keep up with threads, I'm finding I'm missing some of the replies - for example, if an unregistered user posts a question, I'm the only one who responds, and then the OP replies again, I have no idea they've replied.

Is there any way to fix that? Or do I just need to pay more attention in those cases? :p

I just did a search on the vbulletin forums and didn't find anything. I can file a bug report. Anyone else noticed this? I'll try it myself tomorrow if I have a chance.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the unregistered user's post must be approved before it shows up, so no e-mail is sent when it is posted.

I think you may be onto something. I don't get emails about new posts on articles I've subscribed to either, but they show up in my usercp.

I didn't even think to look if they show up in user cp. I can start checking there after I've gone through my emails, I suppose. :)

Debbie, I hit my user CP first thing whenever I log in. It shows me all my PMs and all new threads I'm subscribed to. I check those first, before I look for new posts in general.

Also, if you use the "New Posts" function in the menu bar at the top of the page, be aware that it maxes out at 125 posts (as does the search feature), so if you've been offline for a day or two, you'll only get the 125 most recent new posts, not every post since the last time you logged in.

When I'm worried that I might miss a reply to a thread I've posted in, I go to my own Public Profile and click the "Find all posts by User" link. I can then see if any of those threads have new posts in them. :)

Now I am not getting subs. I do check User CP though.

I had a thread in SCM that I subscribed to and didn't get email notification for many posts there even though I requested it.

Just started working again.

I have no solution to this issue. I have been told it is most likely due to people's service providers or email software rejecting, filtering or deleting emails as spam. Otherwise, I can't explain why it works for most people but sometimes stops working for some.

If those who are having problems could list their email provider and email software, maybe we can find something in common.

Mine is MTS. I don't usuallly have problems with it but the other day I noticed that I didn't receive emails consistantly. Sometimes I would and other times I wouldn't.
