I know that Dodge hasn't done a recall on this, or really even acknowledged it. However, I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck getting the seatbelts replaced? I'm finally going to call and get mine replaced tomorrow... by time I got around to it tonight they were closed.

I plan to call and ask them how much it would cost to replace the seatbelts and buckles that are in question.

If they tell me they won't, or quote me some enormous amount I plan to tell them I want it in writing. Kind of the same tactic I use with insurance companies... I want it in writing that they are refusing to replace them after I've told them that it is a safety risk and that they are willing to take full responsibility if something happens to my kids

Although I'd love a lap shoulder belt instead of lap belt third row center I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Any tips for calling and talking to them.... anyone have success getting them to replace the seatbelts?

Getting them to do it cheap is a huge issue...my Dad has said that if it's going to be more than $100 he will just go to a JUNKYARD and get seatbelts and put them in himself. Ack... don't even get me started there. I'll find a way to get them replaced on my own without using a junkyard, LOL...but it'd be a lot easier if Dodge just did it for me.

What do you think my odds are of that happening?

That's a good question - I need to get it done in our Jeep. The Gen 2 issue is just the buckle, not the entire seatbeltassembly though, so it shouldn't be too difficult or expensive. I highly doubt they'll replace your locking latchplates though - if they repace that protion of the belt at all it will be a direct factory replacement, which means the same type of latchplate.

I thought that they would only replace the buckle as well... but then when I called on this quite a while ago they told me they had to replace the entire seatbelt system, that the latch from gen 3 didn't fit into the gen 2 or gen 4 buckles. That part is different as well. So it will have to be the entire seatbelt system.... in all affected seats which would be more expensive.

We'll see what they say when I call them.
