Does anyone know if the chicco keyfit is going to be available in Canada and if so when? As well any ideas on the seat cover choices?

We are also looking at the maxi cosi seat but I know its fairly new, anyone have any opinions on it?

Can the handles be left up on either of these seats?

I'm pretty sure the Keyfit is coming to Canada, but I don't know when. I'm thinking nobody knows for sure. I've been thinking about the Maxi-Cosi Mico for our next child too. There are some things that people don't like about it. It has a "puzzle" buckle which means you have to put the two sides of the buckle together before you put them in the buckle. It also has the release for the base on the base instead of on the back of the seat, like most are. To me, those are minor things. I like the bright colors, and how light it is. I thought about the SafeSeat, but I find it to be too heavy.

Here's a link for the Keyfit thread, we don't have a whole lot of firm details beyond that right now.

I have no hands on install experience with the Mico, and have never put a baby in one to try it out. I have found the base release to be a little finicky in our store model, but a lot of the adjusters etc. get finicky due to the dust in the store and sitting on the shelf. (Although in this case I think the display isn't that old...)

As for the handle, I'm not sure on either one. I think the Mico has to be down, but I haven't seen the manual for it. I have no idea about the KF.

:o Thanks. I had a 4yr old bugging me - I copied the link, then didn't paste it. LOL

The Mico can have the handle up or down - doesn't matter. It doesn't actually state that in the manual, so I checked with the company. Actually, it doesn't even mention the handle at all in the manual:) As for the KeyFit - it is here in Canada but very hard to find. You can call the importer ISIS Inc in Montreal to find out where it is avaiable.

Oh, yeah, the Mico - is really tough to install. The base design is weird and the seat belt buckles tend to get caught. The UAS is the same problem. The release locking latch plate gets stuck in the routing hole. Check it out very well before you decide! It's available at Babies R Us, Sears, and places like that!

Thanks for the information- I am here in Lethbridge and we do not have a mico at either place- I glance at in Calgary a bit ago but I wasn't in the market for one just yet. Now I am and it sucks not living close to a brick and mortar store so play with one a bit more. Its good to know about the install issues though, I was leaning towards it cause I LOVE the colors they have out but not enough to buy a seat I don't like ;)

Is it the same problem the designer 22 seats have, and becomes less of a problem when the base has the foot adjustment out further to increase the recline? The belt path really does look like the same problematic one the designer 22 seats have.

The base is really quite different from the Designer 22 - much lower profile. We've tried it in all configurations and it's tough. Not really had that much of a problem with the 22....:(
