Did I miss the discussion? (probably! :o)
Anyway, I saw this in Zellers tonight, and it was news to me:

The First Years Via Infant Seat (sold as part of a Travel System.)
4-22lbs
EPS Foam
Front Adjust
Belt Lockoff in base
Level indicator (dreaded BB ball.)
Looked pretty nice... better than the other bare bones infant seats they sell!

I've seen that in our Zellers too, and was wondering why I hadn't heard of it. Thought it looked like a nice seat...maybe I need another baby so I can put all the DC in matching TF/buckets!

Wow! Nope, don't think we knew about it. It looks nice - and matches the TF.
That means, in the period of less than 6mos, we're going from zero seats with a 4lb min weight limit, to 3. (Counting both Keyfits as one and assuming they show up before the end of the year as initially planned.)
Wonder if the redesigned snugride will be 4lbs up here then too? Not that I know an anticipated release date for it, but it will have lock-offs in the base too, and in the US it's going to have a 4lb min weight limit...

Yay! I got to break some news to the board! :p
What's the general opinion of this seat on the U.S. side?

I think the via is a relatively new model. I know that the compass I400 is a really nice seat that people liked - it had the built in lock-offs in the base too. I'm not sure how different the via is from the other compass seats though, or if there has been much experience with it yet.
I know that finding experience with the TF was difficult until it showed up in Canada and there were more reviews on this forum. Probably largely because there is such a larger selection of seats in the US, that one seat doesn't make as much of a splash in the US market.. especially when the release is delayed some. ;) OTOH in Canada the TF is the first 65lb seat that's in a price range for the average parent making it a seat that sticks out from the rest.
So who knows if the Via is going to fall into the same category? It being one of a handful of 4lb limit seats and adding to a selection that really hasn't changed much for years in Canada could lead to it being scrutinized and reviewed more closely here. ;)

I was going to ask about this about three weeks ago, Zellers had it in their flyer but ours did not take it out of the box and it still has not been set up to check it out. Is it lighter weight than most regular infant seats?

I thought it was pretty light, but I haven't hauled around an infant seat for real in a while, nor was I holding it together with another ;)

I guess I should 'buy' one and really 'play' with it (and take tons of pictures and review) ;)

I saw it awhile back around the same time that the TF was coming out. I didn't know much about it so I wasn't sure if it was a good seat or not. I did love that it matched their TF though.
It's on their website if anyone is wondering if it is available at their store to check it out

It shows as available at "my" Zellers. Looks like I'm going on Friday. I took a HPT two nights ago and it was - (we're not trying, but we're not trying very hard not to get pg), anyways, i jsut told DH that if I like it we need to get pg so I can try it.

I wonder if they will be available without the stroller- I really do not want/need another stroller and I don't care for travel systems either ;)
