I'm so excited! I get to do the course at the end of August:love: I can't wait...plus sorta DH is taking the kidlets for the weekend, so not only do I get to spend a weekend immersed in carseats, I get to have my first time kid-free day (well, 3 of them actually!) in five YEARS!!! I don't know which I'm looking forward to more!:p
Oh, so exciting. Congrats!

Yeah, where are you taking it? I was told of one Linda Reid is doing in August in 100 mile, but it costs $500. The one I'm taking at the Justice Institute in New Westminster in September is only $75!

The one in 100 Mile. Where did you get the $500 number from? That's really high...

Mine was $500 when I took it 5 years ago.. I remember this, since my husband took parental leave so we could start our business, and $500 was about how much we MADE that month! Nice, huh? Obviously it was that important to me!

The instructor of the course in 100 mile. Is BCAA putting you through it? If you take it "privately" its $500.

No, BCAA isn't putting me through it, but I was told $300...not $500? Hmm...

By who???
Here is an excerpt from my email from the instructor of that course:
"...Most of the courses I teach are closed courses – meaning they are arranged for specific groups and not open to the general public. However, I do have a couple of classes coming up that would permit outside people to attend and one of those may interest you. I don’t know where you are located but judging by a 604 area code I will assume it is the lower mainland. I am arranging a class for September in Surrey at the Options Daycare center and we could accommodate you in that course. As well I have a course in 100 Mile House coming up in August that you could attend – you never know you might have friends or relatives there!
In any event the cost for either of those courses will be somewhere in the neighbourhood of $400 (the actual cost is dependant on the final number of students). That would include the training as well as the $75 certification fee that must be paid to St John Ambulance for the course paperwork and certification. The course is a full 3 days at the end of which successful attendees are certified child restraint system technicians. This certification is through St John Ambulance, is valid across Canada and is renewable after three years."
Sorry, I was wrong, she said around $400. In any event, you could come down to the coast in September, take the class with me, and play carseats with me and Nicole for the same price!

hmm, now that's tempting!:D
Maybe we'll have to play when I bring DD down for her surgery this fall!
BTW, the instructor was the one who told me $300, but thinking back, I'm not sure it included the $75 cert. fee. Anyhow, she's letting me take it for a donation and the certification fee, because of my volunteer work, so it'll only cost me about $100. :)

BTW...why are we still up and talking carseats at 1 am? We must be fully addicted!

Cool:thumbsup:
Have fun.
I'm still waiting on a call back to see if they are offering the course while I am visiting my parents in N.S. I missed it by a few weeks last year. It was 125.00.

For sure. As long as its not during my crazy month of working 24/7 for six weeks! Maybe MistyBug wants to play too, she's close.

You should come to Ottawa - it's about $75.00 for the full course including the SJA fee. The one in BC - it's the instructors business and livlihood that's why it's so expensive....
Hope you enjoy!

Yeah, I think we (SJA Mississauga) charge $150 for the fee and the course. And if you can volunteer with us, we waive this $150 too :)
