I am wanting some recommendations for my nephew. I just noticed on Monday when we were pulling his seat from my parents van to put back in his parents car that it is dated May 2001 and is a Eddie Bauer, therefore it is expiried. They have 2 of hte same seat and probably the same DOM.
I need to recommend a new seat for them. They will need to buy 2 seats and probably won't put alot of money into the seat since both of their sons are adopted they put out alot of money to be parents ( i know, there isn't a price on your child's safety but they are how do you say "cheap" lol. They will not be having any more children to pass it on to. Oldest nephew is 5 and in a low back booster seat and they will not put him back in a harness seat as i have tried and tried.
The youngest which they will not put rear facing again which he definetly should be as he was a preemie born at 31 weeks. He just turned 3 (July 8), 30-31 inches and 25lbs. I have sent them the link to ERF and the video.
They have a Mazada 6, hatch and a Mazada Protege both 4 door
We are in Ontario.
Please give your recomendations.
TIA

There are a few seats that I would recommend.
There is the Truefit, which is on for $160 at Toys R Us right now. It wouldn't be my personal #1 choice, but it is a pretty good seat, looks super comfy.

Then there is the EFTA, which is available at Walmart, or here online for $180.
This is a really nice seat as well. But like the Truefit, you can tether it RFing.

My #1 pick would be the Radian. You can buy the regular Radian online, with free shipping, it should have a new DOM, and 65lb weight limit, at Juniorbaby.
The thing that sells me on this over the others is the RF tethering.

Or you can buy the premier for $269.00. It's the same seat, with more padding. This is what we are getting when our son outgrows his snugride.

I would look at the Radians at Canadian Tire though. That is where we bought our dd's and we have had no problems at all. You just need to make sure that it isn't a short strap, and you may want to look closely at the DOM. Don't be surprised if it's close to 2 years old already. Although, since the child we are speaking of is already 3, even with a 2 year old DOM, he would still have 6 years left before it expires, so I personally wouldn't worry about it. hope this helps!

I just want to clarify that this is a seat for the 3 year old only, right? Two of the same seat? And they only need FF since they will not ERF. I just want to be sure I have the facts straight before I start spouting off seats.
If that is the case, my top rec would be the Graco Nautilus (I assume it is availble in Canada). It is a FF only seat to 65 pounds that converts to a high back booster then to a low back booster. It has a six year life span as a car seat and HBB, a nine year life span as a LBB.
If the Nautilus is not available, I would look at the Evenflo Triumph Advance. It goes to 50 pounds in the harness, and since he is pretty petite, he would get a fair amount of use our of it. The harness height adjusts at the front, making it user friendly.
The TrueFit is also a great seat, but the straps are pretty twisty. Though if they have had an Eddie Bauer, anything will be an improvement in that department.
Let me know if these seats aren't available in Canada and I'll see what else I can come up with!

Nope, not available here yet.
I think the Trufit would be a good option. Baseless, so he can climb in/out easily and they are already used to the straps and continuous harness from having the EB seats.
The Evenflo Bolero/Generations (Walmart/Sears/TRU) would also be a nice seat since he is tiny, it will last a long time and become an okay high back booster later on.

Yep, I'm in agreement with those and would add the Evenflo Chase to the list - he's light enough at his age that a 47lb weight limit seat would be fine, and he's short for his age too, which means the 16" top harness height just might be fine too.
(Note that the EFTA goes to 47lbs in Canada and not 50lbs like in the US.)
Also, check the expiry date on the 3in1 seat - at some point they switched to 8yr expiry and I'm not sure exactly when that was. It will be on the shell of the seat though, saying do not use after Dec. 20XX. If the seat isn't expired yet, then I'd wait on the new seats until the Nautilus arrives since it should be here by the end of the year. I'm guessing his parents would be happier with that option too since it would be the last seat purchase for him they'd have to make.

The only reason I left out the Chase is because I get the feeling from the original post that the parents will use it as a booster eventually, rather then get a dedicated hbb. I'd prefer to see the Bolero/Generations used as a booster over the Chase. :o
