We have honda accord with leather seats. Our carseat is an infant carrier Graco Safeseat with a base. We tightened the base as best as we could but the other end of the base+carseat keeps sliding left and right on turns!!! (just the end of it)
Is this a normal occurance or did we do smth wrong while installing it? (we have another car with material seats and our carseat never moves on it)

Did you install with LATCH or the seatbelt and what position(center or outboard?

Did you apply pressure to the base while you were tightening the belt?

my husband installed it using latch system and we placed it in the middle.
I will make sure to ask him if he applied pressure when he was installing it, may be that is it.... thanks!

Part of your problem is that you can't use center LATCH in your car. :) Honda's lower LATCH anchors are for outboard installations only. For a center install, you must use the seatbelt.

A properly installed seat should move no more than 1" side-to-side or front-to-back when tugged firmly at the belt path. Sometimes leather seats are slippery and allow the seat to move more than 1", even when the installation is extremely tight. However, no seat should be moving even a little just from the force of the vehicle turning.
The best thing would be for you to find a local Child Passenger Safety Technician and receive hands-on help and instruction. A CPST will show you how to get a good install in your vehicle. Use this link (https://ssl13.cyzap.net/dzapps/dbzap.bin/apps/assess/webmembers/tool?pToolCode=TAB9&pCategory1=TAB9_CERTSEARCH&Webid=SAFEKIDSCERTSQL) to find a tech in your area.

When I put my SS1 in I used the seat belt as I got a tighter fit. I also put my whole body weight into it. I would kneel in the base, pull as hard as I could on the seat belt, I used the base lock off then retracted the set belt to locking. The base did not move at all. It has been in an 04 Passat with no movement and 06 Pilot no movement and passenger outboard both cars. good luck

People complain about leather all the time, but really, it's all in the pressure. Pressure in the right spot is the key. I have been most successful putting pressure right at the belt path, not in the middle of the base. You really don't need to put all of your weight into it, just put the weight in the right spot. Also, try tightening the belt back across the base, not pulling up, or to the outside of the base. Sometimes you'll find it easier to put pressure and tighten in shorter spurts. All of the sudden, it'll tighten nicely.

My mom has leather seats in her car & I used to think I needed something under the car seat to make it fit properly. Now I know better! I can get a really good tight install with NOTHING under the seat! Just make sure that you apply pressure to the seat close to the belt path. I also do not use my full weight, I just simply push down really hard where I need to!
Also you said you would have your DH check it. Have you tried installing it? I know that I can get a great install with no help. It would also be a good idea for you to know how to install the seat just in case. I reccomend that both parents know how to install their child's seat in case of an emergency!

No advice, just tons of sympathy. I've had no issues in our car w/ the Radian, Britax seats, even a Graco CS... but the snugride base? No way...

We use a sheet of the "anti-slip" rubber material commonly found under cutting boards. It's very thin, helps keep the seat from sliding on super-slippery leather, and offers a bit of protection for the leather as well.

Actually the rubber shelf liner can MELT to your leather. And if you need to use it to get a tight install, then it's given you a false sense of security.
