So I just called Toyota to confirm the weight limit on the latch anchors and she told me that it was 65lbs. When I asked where that information came from she said she asked her supervisor and he told her. I asked if it was documented and she said no that he was just familiar with the rating. Does that sound right to anyone else?

Someone else was told that.... But the truth is, Toyota, for now, defers to the LATCH limit given by the car seat. If your car seat says stop using the lower anchors at 40 or 48, then that's the safest thing to do (use the seatbelt for installs, but do keep using the top tether). This is information from www.saferidenews.com who has contacts with the head engineers at all the car companies, definitely honchos higher up than the average supervisor :)

So I am going to install a Frontier or a Nautilus when I finally make up my mind :o , so the LATCH rating would be 40 for both of those right? I know it is 40 for the britax not sure on the Graco. Thanks for the quick response BTW

Yeah, up to 40 with the FR, up to 48 with the GN. Both can be LATCHed later in booster mode, though (since the LATCH will only be holding the 20 pounds of seat at that point, the seatbelt will be holding the child in place :) )

Why can you only use LATCH up to 40 lbs with the Frontier?? The manual says:

Refer to your vehicle owner’s manual or contact the vehicle
manufacturer for the maximum weight rating for their LATCH anchors.
Use the vehicle belt (not LATCH) for installations with children who weigh
more than the vehicle LATCH anchor limit. Unless specified otherwise by
the vehicle manufacturer, assume a 40 pound (18.1 kg.) child is the vehicle
LATCH anchor limit.

So why can't you use it up to 48 lbs with a Toyota? Did Britax change their policy on the Frontier?

Frontier's 40, only God and Britax know why :( (unless you know for sure the car allows more...Like Subaru allows up to 60, so it'd be ok, there).

It may be different (as from Canada). Here there is no weight limit given in Britax manual... rather it says to refer to the vehicles recommendations. My car is a 2005 and had the LATCH recommendations printed in the vehcile manual as 44lbs.

I'm curious about which Britax seat you have, and about the manufacturer of your vehicle. The list of LATCH weight limits by vehicle manufacturer from the LATCH manual is at http://www.saferidenews.com/pdfs/pg_126_max_wt_07.pdf for reference. My understanding is the list applies to both U.S. and Canadian vehicle models, and I don't see a vehicle manufacturer listed with a LATCH limit of 44 lbs. ETA: I see from another post in a different thread that you have a Britax Frontier, but I'm still curious about your vehicle.
