View Full Version : Question New prefix for the swap area?

Could we created a "SOLD" prefix for the swap area? This would enable members to let people know their item was sold, without people having to read the thread, and without having to create a new post in the thread which bumps the thread and clutters things up for new for sale posts. It would also allow for the thread to remain for searching so members can check out past pricing, what things are selling for, how a specific transaction worked out, etc. (I'm not a fan of being able to delete posts in a swap area when sometimes that is the only way to check out other members experiences before buying).

This idea came about in this thread http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=50077

I don't think that you can go back and include a prefix on the original post, though, if that's what you mean.

I'm still looking into some mods for swap, including a reputation system. There is one available, but it isn't yet updated for the newest version of the forum software.

I tested this and it does work. So, if everyone ensures to use a prefix, then they can easily change it to SOLD.

I didn't test if you could add a prefix if one wasn't there originally (although you said you don't think that works).

Ah cool, I'll add it shortly. Thanks!

Anyway we could make the SOLD red or a different color so it stood out from the rest (ie easier to skip for those of us that don't care about checking out what price items sold for)?

But, a colour would be cool!

Ah, good point :)

Hey Darren,

Has anything changed with regards to the Swap prefixes? BW1426 had a "For Sale" prefixed post, but isn't able to edit in "Go Advanced". I had her test in the Chat area, and she is able to change prefixes there, so it seems perhaps there is a problem with the Swap area? I don't have a post in Swap to test with (and didn't want you guys to have to approve another "test" post :)).

I wonder if it times out? Like, if you just happen to be testing it in a 5 minute window of time, you can edit, but if you go longer than that you lose the editability?
