I am trying to immediately remove my Graco Snugride base, as I just realized my son is about 3 pounds over limit. The base is installed using latch, and no matter how hard I try, I can't figure out the darn lever to release slack on the belt so I can undo the latches!!! My husband can do it but he's not home. Any advice! I've pulled up, down, sideways, I absolutley cannot get it to release!

put all your weight onto the base, is there anyone that can help you with it? maybe put weight on it and have some one eles try to move the lever ??? if not try yourself putting all your weight on it while wiggling the lever, HTH

If your lever is like the one on my Graco Nautilus, then you pull up on the end of the lever facing away from the LATCH anchor. While pulling it up (the lever should be away from the belt), yank on the LATCH belt (not the tail, but the part that connects the 2 anchors). Hope this helps! I wish I had pictures, but I'm at work.

Put your weight in the base, then put your thumb under the adjuster and push. I would take a picture of me doing it, but I'm at work! That's what I have to do with my Nautilus. If that doesn't make sense I can try to explain it another way, or maybe someone else can.

what vehicle?

if your vehicle seat can recline... recline it... then you'll have slack in the latch strap.

otherwise, put your knee in the base and push down on it while you unhook the latch clips.

LOL I had the exact same problem before. And I tried and tried and DH got home and tried and tried and we COULD NOT get it out. Finally we got just enough slack but I swear we were out there for 2 hours pulling, pushing, climbing....it was hilarious.

I never did learn the trick.

There's a metal tab at the top of the adjuster for the LATCH strap. DON't compress the base any - leave it so that there's tight tension on the belt because then it's actually a tiny bit easier to loosen - take the metal tab and then push it away from the LATCH strap and down towards the latch hooks, keeping it parallel to the belt. By pushing it away and down, the tension will basically force some slack into the belt which will be enough to loosen it and then you can go from there.

To remove the LATCH hooks, push in on the red plastic piece, then push the whole connector further IN to the seat bight, turn it sideways, then pull it out.
