And if yes, is it a PITA to do/undo?

That would be a huge plus for DH's car if they folded...

Good question. I ma sure others wonder about this too.

If it is installed correctly with less than 1 inch of movement at the beltpath the answer is no.

You would not be able to reach the release levers to fold it. I also believe it states in the manual you cannot fold the radian when it is installed.

I'm pretty sure I read in the manual no. I was kind of annoyed when I found that out after buying it! The way it's advertised I thought it could be folded when not in use. Thought it would be great in DH's truck - he could fold up the seat and be able to use the space while DS wasn't in it!! But no such luck.

This was asked a couple weeks ago in another thread, so I was checking it out yesterday when I re-installed it in our Golf.

First off, it has stickers right on the carseat that specifically say not to release the levers after the carseat is installed. That, however, seems to me to be more a safety warning - obviously it needs to be completely unfolded when the child is using it! They do have stock photos of it folded while installed. :shrug-shoulders:

Second, I was able to release the lever and fold the seat while it was properly installed. The release levers are at a flat-angle at the bight, and you can reach under it (in the Golf, at least) and release them. It wasn't all that difficult, and since you only need to pull one of the levers to fold it, it was even easier than I'd anticipated.

However, having done it, I'm really not sure what the benefit would be. It really doesn't free up all that much space. If you wanted to lay something long across the seat, you could just toss a towel over the carseat to keep it clean and put it there, yk?

That is interesting you were able to fold it. Of course I neve have mine installed FF to try.

I don't know that I would do it without speaking with SKJP.

I don't think it would save much space to fold it. It is so low profile (compared to a MA, etc) that you can still use the back seat for storage without folding it up or removing it.

So I had to try it, it is just not possible installed outboard in a Toyota Corolla. I can't even get my fingers far enough under it to touch the fold level. Then again, it's installed really really tightly.

Thats exactly why I asked. I had seen a pic of it on a sale site installed and folded.

Thanks for the input and PP, thanks for checking.

Depends on the definition of 'in use'... I think they are implying that if it is installed it is 'in use'.

Mine has a big warning on the sticker on the side not to fold it while installed. :o

Yeah, I just assumed that you could fold it while installed. But I couldn't get my fingers anywhere near the buttons while installed and then saw the warning not to do it! It's not really an issue, but just annoying at first since I thought it could be done when I was buying it.

Yeah, this is definitely one of those things where I'd want to hear from SKJP before doing it. Just because there's no obvious problem that we can see doesn't mean that after doing it for six months the base won't fall off or something!
