View Full Version : How to install in a Dodge Caravan?
What type of seat belts does a Dodge Caravan have in the Captain's chairs? How do I lock them? The van is about a 2006 or 2005 model.
Thanks!

I believe Dodge minivan models from that timeframe have locking latchplates, where the lap portion of the seatbelt is locked when it's buckled and the latchplate is flat against the belt. If the belt with a locking latchplate loosens when buckled, you can flip the latchplate over once before buckling to keep it locked, or resort to using a locking clip (assuming the child restraint doesn't have built-in lockoffs which you could use instead, of course :)). The primer on seatbelt types and how they lock at http://www.carseatsite.com/lockingclips.htm has a more detailed explanation about Dodge/Chrysler locking latchplates, and it's a good link in general for understanding the various seatbelt types and how they lock.

They are lightweight locking latchplates with stiff buckle stalks. Pretty easy to install seats on them. Buckle, pull all slack out of lap portion, tighten top tether and you're off. :)
