After so much searching and comparing boosters, we purchased two Monterey seats for my soon to be 6 year old twins and for the most part I LOVE THIS BOOSTER. We had Evenflo Big Kid boosters in dh's car, but the poor kids couldn't nap at all in those without keeling over forward and sideways.

My question/concern - it seems that the seatbelts twist in the guide for these seats and I am wondering if it is just my car or if this is a common occurence? They seem to get stuck and twisted and it is difficult for the kids to buckle themselves in because of this - and due to this problem with the belts sticking, there is seatbelt slack. I have to help them buckle up each time to ensure that the belts aren't twisted and loose.

I drive a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe - so not sure if it is the seat or the seatbelt assembly not having enough tension to pull back. I hate this car - but that is a post for another forum :)

It doesn't do that in my truck. DD's turbo used to do that and I made her stop and fix it before she got out. It only took her a minute and she got into the habit of it quickly.

It has to do with the seat belt geometry in the vehicle. Some boosters work better with some vehicles than others. We had the same problem in our SUV: the shoulder belt comes out of the side pillar almost even with my ds's chest, so it has to go back to the booster's shoulder belt guide, then come out forward again. I'm trying to remember which booster absolutely wouldn't work (I think it was the AirBooster), but the Parkway and Monterey work great.

Like Joni mentioned, see if making it untwisted each ride helps. If not, try a different booster that's more compatible with the angle of where your shoulder belt comes out from the pillar works better.
