Hi! I have a 2001 Xterra and a radian (obviously as the title says). What I need help with is that my son is 2.5y and about 30lbs, and FF in the center. My problem is that the center female latchplate is rather long, and requires twisting, BUT 3 twists is not quite enough to get the seat really tight in the center position.

I recently went through training (in Canada, Sk) to become a car seat tech, and when I queried the other techs was told that in that case that it would be okay to twist it more than 3 times.

I am NOT sure how I feel about this. I noticed that someone else has a 2001 xterra with a radian FF in the center position, and was wondering if I could get some tips on how to get a very solid install.

RF'ing the seat was rock solid, and right now, its okay.. but not 100% to my liking. It doesn't extend more than 1" forward with 3 twists, but the latchplate rests along the side of the seat in a way that I dont like.

What can I do?

I have a Radian FF in the center of DH's 2002 Xterra. The entire female buckle (the whole plastic thing) is in the Radian's beltpath. Eventually the Radian starts tilting to the right (toward the buckle), but then I uninstall & reinstall it.

Wouldn't that be uncomfortable? Or compromise the safety of the child, if the latchplate was just sitting there between the padding and the seat?

Maybe I'm not imagining this right... ;)

There's a medium-sized piece of hard plastic between the beltpath, and the seat cover. So the buckle would be in the beltpath, & the plastic piece would be between the child & the buckle. Does that make sense? If not, pull open the velcro tabs on the cover, inside the seat (mine is a black strip on the gray cover) & pull the resulting opening. You should see the white/opaque plastic. My son's never complained about the buckle.

Also, the entire buckle can be in the beltpath. What's not allowed is if the buckle is kinda half-in/half-out, if you know what I mean.
