I'm posting this pre-emptively to hopefully prevent a flood of Keyfit posts. ;)

It was communicated by Julie from Chicco during the premature infant chat in April that the Keyfit has passed CMVSS 213 standards and will be available in stores this fall. Both the regular Keyfit and the KF 30 will be available. The minimum weight limit will be 4lbs, same as the US seat.

As for a more specific date of arrival, colors, or anything else along that lines, none of that is known.

If you guys want to speculate about colors and arrival date etc, we'll make this the official Keyfit speculation thread, to prevent a bunch of posts coming up about it.

While the estimated arrival is fall, I want to strongly recommend right now that if you're due in fall, don't plan to wait on a Keyfit. Figure out what meets your needs and will work in your vehicle based on what's available now, so that you don't find yourself on the way to the hospital with not having bought a carseat. If it arrives before it's time to buy a seat, great, but don't hold out for something that we don't have a definite arrival date on.

Okay, well I'll play... :)

I'm speculating that we'll see the green pattern. Not sure of the name, but if you look in the newest sears catalogue we now have the Trevi in green. What a lovely system to have... a beautiful Keyfit and a full featured, but lightweight stroller... Yummy.

I mentioned in a different thread that I would have given anything for a Keyfit to bring Sophie home in. She was born weighing 3lbs 8oz, and was discharged 10 days later weighing 3lbs 10oz. We had a SR for her, but it wouldn't adjust small enough for her, so she had to come home in a last-minute purchased Embrace (she needed the 5" bottom slots, and the rear adjust harness). The combined money on a $199 SR and a $109 Embrace would have easily covered the cost of a more pricy Keyfit (I'll also speculate that it will be over $200 up here.. maybe $229 ish?). Then when we had Emma I decided to be prepared for a small baby and got the Combi Centre DX. Fit her great, but when you total what I've spent on infant seats, it's quite a bit. :(

Anyway, if anyone knew they were going to have an early bird or small baby, the Keyfit would be a great option.

I'm just thrilled to see that we'll finally have an appropriate non-carbed seat for preemies. It's about time!! :)

Cool! I knew there was a reason I just sold my SS, so I can get get a KeyFit for the next baby! (which by the way isn't conceived yet or even planned so I can wait well past fall!) :D

I'm glad I live far away for eleven months of the year or I'd be tempted to trade up from the navy SnugRide that's sitting in my guest bedroom.

Bumping for recent question - I'm going to make this an official thread as well, and all KF when and where posts will be merged into here until we get more of an official timeline.

The Key Fit is available now. I had 4 ordered in from the importer by a store for me. The importer is ISIS in Montreal. Have your store call them to place an order - that's what I did.

I'm curious about what the price will be. The Keyfit looks like a nice seat, but if it's too expensive, I better not start thinking about it:)

The Key Fit is by far my new favourite infant seat, especially for anyone with older vehicles without locking seatbelts. I love the base, and the beltpath design is really easy to install in a number of vehicles. I'm happy to hear that we'll be seeing them in stores soon.

Oooh, if it's $149, it's definitely going to be my next infant seat!

Ohh I'm getting excited. I don't know if I should get a Keyfit or a SS1 :)
