We have a car seat that
A) would need a fix as it's been recalled and
and
B) is quite close to expiring.

If it wasn't close to expiring, I'd get it fixed and donate it

But since it's close to expiring, I'm leaning towards waiting the rest of the year out, and then disposing of it somehow so that someone doesn't unwittingly use it.
How do I go about this???

I'm in Manitoba, btw....
If no one knows, I'll contact a co-worker of my husband's but I thought I'd just throw this out here if anyone can give any suggestions.
Thanks!

If it is recalled and close to expiring, you don't have to wait the year to get rid of it.

DESTROY that seat! Cut up the harness, write "DO NOT USE" all over it in black permanent marker, break up any of the plastic you can, and dispose of the cover, harness, and shell separately. :)
If you want to keep the cover, do so. If it is falling apart, though, I would get rid of it.

You could also contact a CRST to see if she/he wants the seat as a demo seat.

Another option is that firemen almost always LOVE to crush things with the jaws... You can take the harness off, cut it up, throw it out and then have them crack your shell.

Hey - get hold of MPI or the fire department - they can do it for you!

Thanks, everyone.
I was really worried someone might get hold of it and use it, without knowing they shouldn't.

I'll contact MPI then... though one of my neighbours is also a firefighter...so that would be a really simple solution, too. :)
