Need some help making a decision - nordic secura vs polaric (UK question)

hi everyone,

first off i live in the uk and only just found out that rearward facing car seats ARE available here after all. i have alredy put my son (almost 16 mths) in a forward faccing car seat and now i want to get him out of it as fast as possible.

i have two options to go by,

the britax nordic secura

and the new recaro polaric (with isofix)

has anyone got any info on these that i might not have come across or any advice what to go looking for? as far as i know the recaro polaric hasnt been independantly tested yet and the britax scored 2 out of 5 for safety in sweden. the recaro is only just leaving the factory now. recaro have done a rearward facing infant seat with isofix which scored 2 points (5 being the worst in this case) so not bad really.

britax is a good make overall but this one hasnt got isofix and also hasnt got a headrest whereas the recaro has. william is used to his snug head rest now and its going to be a change anyway going from forward to rearward facing so i like the look of the recaro head rest.

Hi and welcome to car-seat.org. :)

We have a few members here who post from Europe and are more familiar with the seats available over there, but it sometimes takes longer to get responses in regards to those seats because we're less familiar with them. (Personally I don't know anything about either seat. :o)

I'm going to edit the title for you a little to hopefully catch the attention of anyone who has experience with those seats but doesn't normally check this forum. :thumbsup:

I would definetively bought the Nordic Secura, that is a nice seat for smaller kids to RF in and it would suit your child for a long time. It is RF up till 50 lbs.

I know of a boy who sat in it till he was five years old :-)

The Polaric can only be fastend with isofix and it is only up till 39 lbs.

thanks for your help, ive actually gone for the britax fixway - i just feel more comfortable with isofix as i will be fitting it myself with only the instructions for help. we found some more money so could afford the extra expense. first chance we get we'll be off down to milton keynes (3 hour drive:thumbsdown:) to have it checked. i know it wont last as long but at least the chances of it not being installed correctly are lower. ill post some pictures when we've got it installed with ds in it!! at the moment it is sat on the rocking chair being admired! :love:

but best of all, i can say "my toddler is drivin rearward" now!!!
