They're not making you send back the recalled base? If you're keeping it, are you going to cut or otherwise destroy the LATCH strap to keep anyone else from using it at some point?

IIRC from the release- in order to get a new base, you have to cut the latch strap and return it to Chicco before they send a new base.

Details on the recall and how it's being handled are in the News/Media forum at http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=47677 Note that those with affected KeyFits must cut off the lower LATCH connectors from the base and return the connectors to Chicco in an pre-paid mailer provided by Chicco prior to receiving the new base. :) The original base can still be installed with the vehicle seatbelt.
