I am NOT asking about anything that goes under the car seat or even near it. Does anyone have any experience with a GOOD protector that goes on the seat IN FRONT OF the child, to keep dirt/scuffs off the back of the front seat? I bought something for DH's truck and it just does not stay put.

DS will sometimes have muddy or at least dirty shoes, and the seats are dark gray cloth, so DH would like something to protect the back of the front seat. What I bought from Babies R Us does NOT stay put at all, space is tight so DS getting in and out ends up pushing it out of the position it should be in.

If anyone has one that stays put well, or any ideas, I would appreciate it! :)

I always just took shoes off if they were muddy.

What about a T-shirt, or two in dark colors?

I know it would look kinda funky but I am sure it would work. Which reminds me, I need to put one on my seat. :o

I have this one http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2308613, and it stays put great. Although it is from BRU so maybe you have the same one, and it doesn't work for you..... It has strings at the bottom to tie around the legs of the vehicle and an adjustable strap at the top. It is framed like one of those pop up sunshades, so it seems to be a bit stiffer around the edges. My DS kicks the seat like crazy, and it hasn't moved yet. HTH - Amy

I buy the two pack plastic ones made by Jolly Jumper at Walmart.

You could use an apron (there's an Eddie Bauer one that is apron shaped, what a brilliant idea..but a regular apron is cheaper, lol)... those cheap ones at the craft store could be fun to decorate, and the pockets can hold stuff or feet, too.

Probably a bad idea if you have side airbags that pop out of the side of the seat, though...:o

I got these for my car and I have been happy so far.

I still take off Avi's shoes if they are really wet/dirty because there are so many things he can get dirty with his shoes in the back seat, like the center console, but this has taken a lot of stress away regarding the back of my seat. I keep one in my car and one in the trunk to use if I am driving Avi in another car so I don't have to take it on/off.

I have to tell my ghetto fix for this. We were just on vacation and dealing with snow and mud. It doesn't snow where I live, so I had no clue how messy shoes get. DD kept putting her feet on the back of the seat in front of her. It's light grey fabric. I poked some holes in a trash bag for the headrest and put it over the seat (like you would a t-shirt). It was embarrassing, but the seat stayed clean. Not that I'm recommending this for every day...just though you'd all like a chuckle at my expense.

LOL that might be a good idea for my parents van, they are super obsessed about car cleanliness! I didn't used to bother when we had the tan cloth interior, it didn't show much dirt. Now black leather, that is a totally different story. It's not just snow and mud, it shows every single dusty footprint, even dusty handprints. I thought I would love the leather, but black was NOT the best choice!

A fairly large assortment of them have that, you just have to check the sides of the front seats for little 'sbs' or 'airbag' warning, and it's usually not totally smooth, there's like a panel on the side...I'm too lazy to look for pictures, but you'd know it if you saw it.

My Sienna has a label that says SRS... would that be it?

I need to dig up my manual.

Thanks, I never knew.

I was actually planning on puttin one on my second row middle seat. I know that would be okay, right?

SRS, yeah, that's it, not B...d'oh!

Probably just front seats, not usually back seats, yeah.

yes.

i get ones for $1.99 at a local arts supply store, they're pocketless. they're disposable but washable and reusable as well. they just hang from the headrest and then the waist ties can tie to the seat rails. they don't interfere at all with the seat-mounted side airbags. they seem to work as well as the $10-20 ones. just be sure to get the small ones, usually the kid-sized ones fit best on the car's seat. the adult ones may be too large.

you can see how it hangs in my car here (you can only see part of it in the pic, but you can get the idea):
