View Full Version : Getting tilt with Nautilus
I put my Nautilus in the center of our 2001 Forester. It seemed to work well, but when I look at it in the rearview mirror, I can see that it is tilting (the seatbelt is pulling it up on the shoulder belt side). Also, the harness adjuster seems harder to adjust since I put the seat in the middle, any idea why that would be? Thanks!

I get tilt with a radian in the center position in my Subaru too. I think it has to do with the ceiling mounted retractor.
Did you try getting the lap portion as tight as you can and locking the shoulder belt as the very last step. By allowing it to retract naturally and not forcing any additional webbing in, the tipping should be minimized. However, that doesn't always work with mine- it's like the notches on the ratchet are just a bit too far apart and I have to force it another click to get it to stay tight enough... which contributes to the tilt. If you can't get it to lock and stay tight without tipping, you may need a locking clip.

If the tilt isn't too severe and doesn't seem to be bothering your child, I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm more concerned about the harness adjuster. When we move seats around, sometimes the harness adjust can get caught up in dangling buckle-straps, harness straps, unused LATCH straps, etc.
