I know of two other forums that receive money from Amazon.com by people going through a special link to shop. Is this something that you have ever looked into for car-seat.org? At first I thought you needed to be a non-profit to receive this benefit but I don't think you do.

I have generally tried to avoid any type of affiliate programs, click-through ads, pop-ups, etc. They may be a necessity in the future, but I'd like to keep clear of them for as long as possible. Car-Seat.Org managed 6 years without any type of ads or donations. With the current setup, I think we can handle at least another year or two of the same type of growth before we have to consider something else.

On the other hand, the sponsor of our chat room does have affiliate links. By supporting them, you are essentially supporting Car-Seat.Org :

I don't think you have to have any advertising for Amazon on the site. I think it could just be a sticky post with the URL to click through.

I spend upwards of $800/month at Amazon for work and I'd love for some of that to benefit my favorite forum!

I think you should call out the Amazon affiliate link more prominently! I don't mean with a bigger banner or something, but with a new thread so that everyone knows about it. We (collectively) do a LOT of shopping on Amazon, and I can't think of any other affiliate that most of us would like to go through. You could get a lot of revenue that way! :twocents: :)

Aww man just after I spent a couple grand last week at Amazon. How much per transaction will the forum get?

From what I can tell, typical affiliate rates start at 4% and are tiered depending on monthly volume.

I rarely read in this area but happened to click on it to see what others had to say about disappearing threads. There's one I posted to yesterday that I can't find...but I'm a little brain dead right now so it might just be me! LOL

Anyway, just placed $150 worth of SnugRide and the SR stroller frame and a car seat cover (the good kind!) into my Amazon cart. I happened to save it for later to confirm with my friend that she does want me to purchase it (shower gift for another friend). So I will delete it and go throught the link now! :D

I think you should be able to keep the stuff in your cart and click through the car-seat.org link to actually make the purchase.
