Some newer and less active members may have lost access to the Community Member Coffee Break off-topic chat forum. The announcement is here:

During May, there is a something of a grace period to obtain access. Any member who had previously posted at least once in the Community Member forum will generally be given access. To request access. Members who had been registered before April of 2008 and had a reasonable posting history ( Perhaps 25 posts or more) will also generally be granted continued access. To request access, you must submit a Community Member Usergroup join request using this link:

For those members who have registered recently, have not participated in the Community Member forum and/or do not have many posts, there are other means to obtain access. From the post linked above-
1) Access is free when you reach 10 posts, 10 reputation and 30 days registered.
2) You may request to join the Community Member Usergroup in your User Control Panel, Group Memberships area. Requests are granted at the discretion of the usergroup leaders. Generally, this will only be done if you have posted in the Community Member forum already or if you "know" someone who has access already and who will vouch for you. Please list their username in the reason for your request.
3) You may donate at the Benefactor or Sponsor Level
Apologies for any inconvenience. We are working to approve requests as quickly as possible for members who have previously participated in that forum. Other requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis until June, when all join requests will be evaluated more carefully.
