list of 3rd row top tethers?

Does anyone have a quick list of vehicles that are NOT mini vans that have 3rd row top tethers? I have someone on another board asking about cars like that and I honestly have no idea? Is this something quick listed in the LATCH manual? I don't want someone else to have to go out of their way for the info either.

I don't have an entire list but here are a few:

* 07/08 Acura MDX has top tethers in both seating positions in 3rd row
* 08 Saturn Outlook has top tether for middle seating position only, in 3rd row (I'd expect this would be the same in the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave)
* 08 Toyota Highlander does NOT have top tethers in 3rd row

We love our new Hyundai Veracruz (for those of you unfamiliar with it, it is a crossover, seats 7, slightly bigger than the Santa Fe, but not as boxy looking from the outside), which has tethers in ALL 5 rear seating positions (3 in the middle row, and 2 in the 3rd row)!!! Of couse, we only have one kid needing a tether anymore, but I still love the fact that they are there, and that I think I could easily fit 5 carseats in those positions!! What I love even more is their unlimited LATCH limits! Now I don't have to worry about the PITA of installing the Radian with the seatbelt, which was a huge issue in my montanna. Lastly, I love the side curtain airbags, all the way back to the third row and headrests in all seating positions. It is a NICE vehicle!! (OK, on the downside, I can't even fit groceries behind the 3rd row when it is up, but I guess that's the price I pay for getting rid of the minivan)

canadianmom2three - do you know what kind of gas mileage you are getting? I was looking at the Santa Fe, but it doesn't have the 3rd row tethers. My concern with the Veracruz is fuel efficency.

I know Ford Explorers (well, at least the 2002-2004) have third-row tethers.

The Honda Pilot has tethers in all 3 spaces in the third row.

The Ford Freestyle has 1 set of LATCH in the 3rd row, and both positions have top tethers. Hopefully it's the same for the Taurus X (what it's rebranded as).

GM Tahoe & Suburbans have top tethers in the 3rd row.

I know Ford Explorers (well, at least the 2002-2004) have third-row tethers.


We have a 2005 Ford Explorer and all 5 positions have tether anchors.

We also have a 2001 Suzuki XL7 and that also has 5 tether anchor positions.

Our 1997 Jeep Wrangler has no tether anchors.

My son's 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix has no tethers. :rolleyes:

I think the list of vehicles with zero third row tethers would be shorter. Most have at least one.

I think the Chrysler Pacifica had 1 in 3rd row and my 07 Tahoe has one too

:doh: dim moment on my part......After fully exploring my new veracruz, I am embarassed to admit, that the "tether anchors" I thought I saw on the rear row, are actually grocery bag hooks:o :o very very dissapointed, since the rear row is really more suited to car seats than older children.....
