My husband has to switch cars with my father-in-law tomorrow and they need to move the car seat. I can't give him my car because I have to travel with a double bass in the car and my father-in-law's '95 Ford Taurus passenger side door doesn't actually open.

I'm assuming that we'd need to install the seat in the middle with a seat belt. Our son is rear-facing obviously at 8 months old (well maybe not obviously-- we've had words on other forums about turning kids around too soon. I think that safety is way more important than being able to watch SpongeBob so my son will be rear-facing until he's about 30 pounds). I haven't ever installed a car seat with a seatbelt--is it difficult? Anything to watch out for?

Right, a '95 Taurus is a pre-LATCH equipped vehicle without lower LATCH anchors or top tether anchors. Based on the '95 Taurus I saw recently at a seatcheck event, it has a lap-only seatbelt in the center rear seating position and should be relatively installation friendly, although I don't have specific experience or tips for installing the Triumph in that particular vehicle. The lap-only seatbelt in the Taurus locks at the latchplate when the seatbelt is buckled (as do most lap-only seatbelts - this primer on seatbelt types could be helpful for you: http://www.carseatsite.com/lockingclips.htm), and is probably about as user friendly as a lower LATCH anchor installation would be.
