We have a BLVD that goes to 33lbs RF, DOM 11/07. As I understand it, the new 35lb-limit seats aren't made any differently than the old ones, but have been tested to 35lbs RF. I also know that the new 35lb-limit is not retroactive to the old seats. Am I correct in this understanding of it? And if so, has anyone made (or would anyone make) the parental decision to RF to 35lbs in a seat only tested to 33lbs?

I'm reading what I just wrote and thinking "no way is anyone that crazy, and we shouldn't be either" but DS is almost 32lbs and I'm sort of starting to freak out about turning him, because he's still so young (only 2y4m). We just got the BLVD at the beginning of the year...if he hadn't absolutely outgrown his RA in height we would have waited until the new BLVDs came out, but we couldn't wait. I'm almost at the point of trying to convince DH to get him a new one just for those last few pounds, but that's a seriously long shot. Should I just take a deep breath and turn him FF when he hits 33lbs?

I'm so jealous of all of you out there with tiny kids.:o

My daughter was that exact age when she reached the 33 lb rf limit on her MA. I chose to switch over to our spare seat (a Cosco Touriva) as the primary seat until she reached the 35 lbs rf limit a few months later. I was worth it to me, but your milage may vary.
