I though I saw a thread on this, but cannot seem to find it. What is the difference between EPP and EPS foam?

I believe they are the same, the name of it is just copyrighted to one company so the others have to call it something else??

EPP is a denser foam that has more elastic properties than EPS foam. EPS foam is more crushable and is the styrofoam you see surrounding electronics; it's a one-time use material. Both are very safe.

yep, EPP is more resilient and can rebound somewhat from an impact, regaining its shape. when EPS crushed, it's permanent. EPP is less brittle and cracks less, but EPS is still considered the near-perfect energy absorbing material since it doesn't rebound. both EPS and EPP can be made to varying densities and energy absorbing properties. bike helmets are also made of EPS with a thin plastic shell on the outside.
