Ok, we have a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Sienna. We have had our Cosco Scenera for 2 years now and I just bought a Triumph Advance LX to replace my cracked Marathon.

My question is which seat for for vehicle makes the most sense. We use the Sienna about 65-70% of the time so I know right there, the logical answer is to use the Triumph in the Sienna. However, my feeling is also that the Sienna is probably safer in the first place over the Corolla so that might make more sense. Then again, maybe they are both comparably safe so except for comfort, it doesn't matter much.

What do you all think?

Thanks,
Pamela

That's just the kind of question that would go around in my brain, too :o.

Can you fit the Scenera in the center of the Corolla? That'd be my first choice, I think.

And does the Corolla have top tether anchors? Those are a very important safety feature for a child who's too big to rearface (which is by far the safest, but obviously we can't do it forever.. top anchors are the next best thing).

How did your Marathon get cracked? Britax is very good about standing behind their products.

Can't put the Scenera in the middle of the Corolla as child #2 is due in June. Yes, the Corolla has top anchors.

Not sure how my Britax seat got cracked. However, it's over two years old so I didn't think they'd replace it (plus, I don't have the original receipt and all).

I would call Britax about the cracked Marathon. :twocents: Just make a note of the seat's date of manufacture, model and batch numbers (located on a sticker either on the outside of the right hand side of the shell when you're facing the front of the seat, slightly under the cover, or down on the front side of the base near where the child's feet would dangle and slightly under the front edge of the cover). Have the info. handy when you call, describe the crack, offer to e-mail Britax a picture of the crack if you can take one, and see what transpires. Britax tends to be very customer service oriented as a general rule, and it's not necessarily dependent on how long you've had the seat, nor dependent on having the receipt for it or not.

My head also goes in circles with this sort of which seat goes where question. I would go with a seat with EPS/EPP foam and presumably more side impact protection if it needed to be installed outboard in the Corolla. If the carseat is rear facing, though, it already inherently offers a certain measure of side impact protection over forward facing, as well as significantly superior crash protection in general over rear facing. If there's any chance your kiddo is still within the rear facing height limit (at least one inch of plastic carseat shell above the top of the head) and rear facing weight limit (35 lbs. for the Scenera and the Triumph Advance, unless you happen to be in Canada where the rear facing limit is 30 lbs), I would consider rear facing in either vehicle, and particularly if the child restraint is installed outboard.
