Top tethers in a 1999 Subaru Outback Legacy?

Were top tethers put in cars made during 1999.(Canadian)

DH is thinking about buying 1999 Subaru Outback Legacy.


I am not sure I will get a chance to look at it before and if he buys it and would love to know what I can expect in regard to the top tethers for DS's Radian.

I know the seat would most likely be installed outboard as everyone has difficulty installing centre in a Subaru or the year of the Subaru recommends against it.

The '99 Outback has 3 ceiling-mounted anchors. Is it actually an Outback? There's a Legacy in the LATCH manual too, which has the pre-drills in three locations for '99. Ask your DH to take a look for 3 hooks up in the ceiling?

It is called a Outback Legacy or a Legacy Outback.One or the other so I guess that really does not clear it up entirely.



The names that Subaru has given to its models confuse me slightly. They seem to use the same names over and over again and then add them together sometimes:confused:

DH is going to pick it up later today. I am going to try a centre install with a lap belt with a Radian first and hope it works.
