I'm planning on moving my little man up to a booster seat. He's almost 13mths & weighs 13.6kgs. His current baby seat is good to 18kgs but he's a big boy & getting a bit squishy in there! The harness is already at the highest setting.
I'm looking at the Safe-n-Sound Maxi Rider II and the Hi-pod Senator. Both of these designs have the harness for use up to 18kgs. I also saw another Safe-n-Sound model today (can't remember the name) that didn't have the in-built harness but did include a hook in the crotch area to stop "submarining" & can be used with a seperately purchased harness.
Target have 20% off at the moment & don't want to miss a bargain!
Any advice?
I also have #2 on the way & was advised by Target staff the Hi-pod Senator may be he best one because it will fit better next to my exisitig car seat due to it's lower profile.

My son is 16kgs and had a maxi rider untill i got the regent..i suggest getting him the seat with the harness till 18kgs(hopefully he wont be 18kgs till about 2-2 1/2yrs..then he can use the protecta harness with the anti-submarining clip once he hits 19kgs & over.
good luck with your decision
BY the way i thought our local Target had 25% off baby stuff not 20%???hopefuly its 25 to save you even more!!

He is way to young to sit in a booster seat yet, it would not give him the same protection as his current seat. Also the Safe n sound seat is not on sale at Target, they do not carry it.
If you really want more room for him then I would get the Maxi rider w/ the internal harness, which will harness him to 18 kilos then you can buy the protecta harness and that will harness him to 26 kilos. The seat will have the anti submarine clip, but you just have to make sure that you buy the new model of the harness not the older model which is sold at Target. The newer model works w/ the clip and the older one does not.
I would use your current seat for #2 and then buy the maxi rider for #1.
They are on sale right now at Babies Galore for $305.

I think that this would be your best and safest option.
What type of car do you drive? I have had no problem fitting a Maxi next to your current seat.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I have no intention of putting Jake in a booster without an inbuilt harness, which is why I'm considering the models I originally mentioned.
I am aware the Maxi-rider is not stocked in most Target stores but the Hi-pod "senator" is. Thanks for the heads up on the Babies Galore special.
I am intending to use Jakes current seat (a Go Safe "Silver Cloud Deluxe") with #2
I drive a 2005 BA Falcon XR6.

Sorry, I only saw the Hipod and missed the senator, which is not listed on their web site for Hipod. I can't seem to find a picture or any information about that seat?
So it looks like you have plenty of room to fit 3 seats in you car.

Just so you know, in Aug we will find out if they will pass the bill for the booster law which we would see higher weight boosters here and the age you would have to use a booster to is 7 yrs old.
I saw the seat at Target and it is still on sale, it looks like a nice seat.

The hipod senator is the same as the maxi rider plus and can be very difficult to adjust., It does not have a splitter plate on the back, so you have to remove the straps by the hips, and then undo the whole belt to re-thread to a new height slot.
Can you tell me more about the Maxi rider AHR?
Also I too hope the new booster law passes. I think it will, as many companies are placing orders for new booster seats.

Well I don't know much other then it will be the Maxi RIder with a Meridian like head rest. I have been trying to research and I came across pics of the new USA Britax Frontier.... I think that is going to become our Maxi Rider III AHR
