I am installing a infant seat for a newborn, dont know what kind yet,I know the basics,but does anyone have a easy method for checking the level or degree for a newborn.Maybe like a folded paper or something I dont have a leveler .tia

I just eyeball usually...Or you can fold a piece of paper into a triangle, and put the long edge of the triangle against the back of the seat, where the baby's back would go. If it's a full 45* the top of the triangle will be level. Gosh that was probably the worst explanation ever, sorry :o

THANK YOU!!!!!!that helps.I am not a tech but have learned from here how to do a safe install,and not to use aftermarket items.So I told my friend I would install for her she has no clue.

That's great of you to help her!

I would also have her go ahead and see a technician as well though. :thumbsup: I did installs before I was a tech, but looking back I made some mistakes(even some serious mistakes). In class you will learn ALOT!

With an infant seat there will be an indicator either on the base or on the carrier itself. :thumbsup:

The manual will detail how to check the recline. Pretty much all indicators show an acceptable range. I always recline as much as possible while keeping it within the allowable range on the indicator when installing for a newborn, and then tell the parents to make it more upright as baby gets older. :thumbsup:

I do not like the paper trick, and it doesn't work particularly well with infant seats that have any type of bucket shape. Use the indicator on the seat as your guide and you'll be fine. :)
