View Full Version : RF tether anchor position on Boulevard?

I just bought my 16 mo DD a Boulevard and have switched her back to RF!!!:D
I installed the seat, but I am confused about the tether anchor. I am anchoring it under the driver's seat, but everything under the seat moves when the driver moves the seat forward/backward. This doesn't seem right to me, b/c that will affect the tether tightness. Does this mean I can never move the seat again?

not necessarily. you either need to find somewhere to wrap the d-ring or adjust the tether each time you move the seat. Ideally, you should look for something that doesn't move and is anchored directly to the vehicle frame. What vehicle do you drive?

I drive a 2004 Pontiac Montana. It seemed that the only thing stationary was a flat "plate" that is screwed to the floor, but nowhere to wrap the strap around.

oh, those are so frustrating. Which position is the seat in? I wrapped it around the plate at the bottom of the passenger side front leg seat (in a Venture). It took a minute or two to work the connector strap under and it was just barely long enough to slip the d-ring through the loop.

It is behind the driver's seat. Is that what you mean?

This is what I do too, in my Venture. It's a pita and it barely fits, but it's do-able. Previously I had it tethered to the bar that runs along the underside of the seat, but DH and I frequently adjust the seat back and forth, and I didn't want to deal with fixing it so often.

What do you mean "passenger side front leg seat"? Sorry for being so ignorant!

I went and had my dh look at it with me and he thinks we should anchor it under the seat itself. There is a big thick bar under it that I can wrap the strap around... Is that safe??

Hiya Hun! I have my RF Marathon tethered to my passenger side seatbelt stalk where it is bolted to the floor. I had it tethered to a bar under my Drivers seat, but moved it due to DH liking to lay the seat back & take a nap on lunch at work. The bar would more than likely work, but you may still have to adjust the tether when you move the seat.

I also want to add Congrats on turning your 16 month old back RF! I just recently turned my 17 month old back RF as well! I am really happy with it as I am sure you will be!

did you ever get this figured out? i also have a 2004 pontiac montana and i'm trying to install our new blvd rear-facing. :D i'm going out there in a couple hours to take a million pics to see if that helps.

i didn't realize it could be anchored to a part that moves with the seat. i might be able to figure that out - and we'd just have to remember to adjust it if we adjust the seat...

Britax instructions (as I remember) are adamant about a non-moving part to put that extender around; usually it is the leg of the seat that is bolted to the floor, thus more reinforced metal....heavier screws that hold it in, etc.
If Britax has changed on that, please let me know.
