View Full Version : rfing tether used to correct seat angle?
I swear I saw a conversation about this in a thread recently, and I can't for the life of me find the thread! So hopefully somebody will remember. I've got a brother who just got a BLVD for his DD and I'm trying to help him w/the install. When it's installed (RF) with the seatbelt, it is at a really upright angle. I'm almost positive it's less than 30 degrees. He has a pool noodle and is going to try to re-install it tomorrow using that. I told him he could also try to get the right angle by using the tether.
But then I remembered a conversation about that on a thread here recently and IIRC somebody was saying that Britax had changed their position and no longer allowed the tether to be used to correct the angle. Does anybody have any idea about this? I just want to be sure I don't tell my brother something wrong.
Thanks!

What car is this?
Is the Blvd in recline or RF mode?
To get it more reclined, try pushing the base of the seat right up against the seat bight. If that still doesn't work, I would consider using a noodle Using the tether to recline would be my last choice.

Do make sure also that the seat base is in recline mode (required in the manual for RF installations). The recent thread I saw (probably the same one you remember) did seem to say that a few degrees of adjustment by way of the tether would still be acceptable, but that you shouldn't haul the seat into proper recline with the tether. The basic angle should be achieved with positioning of the base (generally close to the seat bight for maximum recline), and the use of spacers (towel and/or pool noodle type spacer) if necessary.

Yes, that was the thread. Thanks!
It's installed RFing in a 2001 Chevy Malibu. And it is in the recline mode and it's installed really close to the seat bite. So I told my brother to use the pool noodle and he's going to. I just wasn't sure if I should tell him to also use the rf tether to help with the angle. But now I won't. I'll tell him that if he uses the tether to just pull the slack out of it, but not pull it tight. Thanks for your help!

Yes, if you have really deep slanted seats a pool noodle might be in order.
