I am in desperate need of a light stroller for my son. When we go to Disneyland he gets tired early and I can't carry him that long (not to mention it's safer). He's 46 lbs and about 47" tall. Does anyone know of a lightweight stroller that will work. All the ones we tried don't have a high enough seat back. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!!

What is your budget?
The Maclaren Techno XLR has a 65-pound weight limit and a high back. It works well for older kids. :)
Your best bet is probably going to be a jogger-style stroller. However, not all of them have a high back, so it would probably be best to try some out with your son to see which ones work best.
Most joggers are not lightweight, though.
Another option would be to rent the one at Disney. :D

I had a jogging stroller with a stationary wheel and that was torture. Do you know how high the back is on the Maclaren? We tried a couple of them and they were too short.
I may have to get a swivel wheel jogger. The ones at Disney are dirty and we go so much it would be cheaper to buy one.
Thanks!!!!!!!!

The Maclaren XLR is much larger than the other Maclarens.
Let me go do some research...

The XLR is the same back height as the others :(
Is he really so tired he has to totally rest his head, though? The XLR is a nice big wide comfy seat, anyway ($200 on clearance online, too)
Swivel wheel joggers are SOOOOO much nicer to push than fixed wheel ones...
Maclaren Major? Special needs, but nice and big and nice to push.. :)

Damn. I just found that, while the XLR's seat WIDTH is larger, the height is the same. :(
GOOD NEWS, though! :D
I just found that the Quinny Zapp has a 22" seat back. That is pretty high!
The Mountain Buggy Breeze has 20.5" seat back.

Thank you!!! I'll look at the Quinny Zapp and some joggers!
I was looking at the Quinny Zapp to see waht it was, nice stroller for an older child. Curious on weight limit though, can you tell me what you find cause one site said weight limit was 40lbs and the user guide said weight limit is 44lbs.

I found the weight limit at 40 lbs. Here's a link...

My 8 yo fit in the Zapp pretty well...too bad I didn't take her comparison picture in the Volo, but suffice it to say, she barely fits in it, rofl! http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/ZappEtc (really shallow seat, but it pushed fine with 55 pounds of her in it, it's definitely sturdy enough)

While weight limits are VERY important for carseats, I don't think they are as important for strollers (as long as the stroller pushes well and the child isn't so heavy that the stroller will collapse, of course).
If the stroller pushes well with a child in it whose weight is slightly above the limit, I wouldn't worry about it. :)

Thank you so much for the picture of your 8 year old in the Zapp! Is this the right one...

I thought it looked to small for my son, but obviously not.
THANKS!!!!!!

Yeah, it's the same seat size, just has more wheels so it's a touch less tippy (still really tippy if you hang anything off the back and he gets out, though).

I bought it from BabyUniverse.com. I had a $20 off coupon code. If anyone is interested it's VISASAVES, but you have to pay with Visa.
Thanks for your help! I've had such a hard time finding a stroller that will fit him.

Actually, you can pay however you like. I ordered my two Regents from there with the VISASAVES coupon and paid with my Discover card.

It probably does. . I am not sure. But I can confirm it works regardless of how you pay ;)

What about just renting one of the Disney strollers? They are $12/day and I have seen some big kids riding in those.
