Silly question, I know, but which would bother you more: clashing straps or clashing covers?

Honestly, I could care less :) All I am worried about is my childs safety...thats why I've never bought a seat because I like how it looks...its just not important to me :) Thats why I voted that it didnt matter

Thanks for being a drag on my silly thread. If I am here, obviously, my childrens safety comes first.

My kids safety is first, since they will be in carseats FOR YEARS their seats WILL BE CUTE ;) and be what they want.

I MUST have matching straps (for each carseat - not all the straps matching)! Since I have a boy and a girl the matching covers isnt that possible - Super girly covers for my daughter and boy covers for my son!

I voted straps have to match. (from the girl who had to have new HUGS for her Cougar cover )
Covers are based on kids choices and personalities.

Straps have to match the cover. If both seats match, that is a bonus.

Straps for each seat :D - not both straps for each seat matching.

I like all my straps to match, I don't really care if the covers match but they will :P

Ok, I voted that the covers need to match. I meant that the covers need to be some sort of color coordinated thing. Obviously you can't match boy and girl covers or sometimes booster seat and convertible seat covers. Mine don't match but the Radian is pink and girly and the Jane is pink and girly. I know that's gross to some but not to me. Our Suzuki has a Parkway Tiffany and a Marathon Brooke in it. The Jeep has a Radian Super Cool and a Graco Nautilus. Am I obsessive????

other,

the cover needs to match the kid.

Super flowery pink for my pink princess obsessed Abby,

Less intense purple (but still girly) Shannon for Georgie

But I have grey straps on my Shannon and I don't care.

Either that or they would have to be EXACTLY the same. I really don't care to hear about who wants to be in the other seat every time we get in the car.

I like them all to coordinate - or at least 2 by 2!

I wanted a cow cover on baby's ma since I already had one and 2 brookes, but the black straps would've driven me crazy since all my other seats have tan straps. So I got a croc.

If I don't think the croc and cow look okay together, I will trade or buy whichever I like better.

The boys both have huntington and I dont' care if all 4 of my seats don't coordinate. But I like the boys to coordinate and the girls to coordinate - if that makes any sense!

you forgot should they match the car too?? i personally dont care one way or the other, but i would like a girly pink seat, because out of the 9 seats i have owned for 2 girls, not a pink one among them. no one little flower anywhere.. maybe i'll go buy some patches and sew them on.

I don't really care that much. Right now, our straps clash. I have tan straps. The cover I'm currently using is Greystone, so it does clash. I do want to replace the straps though, because they are dirty. I just don't feel like spending the money right now.

You guys crack me up! AJ has his blue/grey Radian w/ grey straps that goes really well w/ the interior of the van. :) Evan is in his Mosaic BV which is blue, so still kind of coordinates w/ the Radian, not so much the interior since it has tan straps. Ilana is now in a bright yellow seat w/ butterflies and a black harness, it matches nothing, but sure is pretty. :)

My seat has the match the interior of my car, all the way around. I love my son's MA in Brownstone. We were looking at a new car with black interior and I was going to buy a new cover to match. I'm a nut though and a little OCD with that sort of thing! LOL! We only have 1 right now, but if we were to have another I would check Ebay to get another Brownstone to match or get Ian a new cover.

I once had matching - denim SR/C and Cool Blues RA (denim/blue & white plaid).

My Britax Elite (GREEN plaid) threw a wrench in that one, and I don't think I've had matching seats since LOL.

Right now, I have a tan interior van, Graco Nauti, and FPSV booster in Tan Tech. Oh - and Josh's High Rise is black/gray, so I guess it matches the Nauti - sorta.

the straps have to match in each seat. like the adjuster strap and harness must be the same color. the covers must coordinate....not be the same but along the same lines. i don't want a bright blue seat and a cow mooflague. my ma's in my car will soon match by luck. each child is different and so should their seats be. my oldest wil get the pink and grey frontier and my youngest will get her own choice when she is big enough.

TG for cute car seats with great safety ratings!

Doesn't really matter to me! I guess coordinating covers would be nice, but it hasn't worked out for us. In our Focus we have a Sahara Regent (only cover available at the time) and a Mariposa MA. In our Escort we have a Tiffany cover (on a FPSVD) and either a Sapphire Parkway or tan (?) FPSV booster. I like each individual seat, and they don't totally clash, so it's OK with me.

The straps have to match the cover they are with. The seats don't have to match, especially when it is a boy and a girl. I will get what makes them happy, no matter if it goes together or not. But, it would drive me nuts if the straps didn't match the seat cover that they were with.

I didn't think I was so obsessive, but all four of my seats match. It wasn't done on purpose. I have one tan all-star sport MA--I got on sale. Two Radian65's in tan and grey, by accident they had a black/grey on display and that's what I thought I was getting. I liked the tan/grey better, so all worked out. I have a SS1 in Heirloom, which is a french black and cream tolie type fabric. I have a dark blue interior of a Chrysler T&C so all those tan/grey/black combos look so cool together against my interior. I love it!!!:D

I just order the GN in "Matrix" and the Air in "Storm" so that my kids seats would match and yes the will match the interior of my truck as well.

I like "theme" covers :p Seriously, I had a li'l piece of heaven when we'd managed to have a series of different animal prints that complimented eachother & matched my minivan  A few complimentary insect, celestial or machine type themes would be really cool, too -- I might even be able to tolerate sports team covers.... In your picture, your ODD has grey straps.

DS' Radian matches our car, I did that on purpose. If the blue one (coastal?) had been available I probably would have gotten that one though. His AOE matched - that seat is gone now as is his infant seat, which did not match.

It did bug me to have my nephew's seat (blue EB 3-in-1) and DS' (black/grey AOE) not matching when in our car.

I like the straps to match the cover, but I think there's some wiggle room there with certain covers. I don't need or want my seats to match. The rule in my house is that I pick the seats and the girls get to pick the covers. This only really applies to our Britax seats, though. No one else has cover options like Britax!

Our first Britax seats were a Microdot Tan RA and a Houndstooth MA. The Microdot Tan matched my tan leather interior beautifully, but I like crazy covers. Kaylie hated the Houndstooth, the only reason I bought that one was because it had a great DOM and a great price and I figured I could swap out the covers later. The original covers clashed horribly together and bugged me. The Microdot Tan obviously had tan straps and I have always loved the Aloha cover, so we went with that for the RA. The tan straps looked great with it. Kaylie insisted on the Cowmoo cover, but the Houndstooth had gray straps. Actually, the cowmoo with gray straps looked better than I thought and it didn't bother me that the seats and the straps didn't match. So I guess I fall into the "I don't really care" group :p.

But, when we moved Kaylie to the Regent, she insisted on the Madison, which was fine. Teagan was moving to her MA, and refused to seat in the moo seat. She needed "fowers" on her seat. That's her requirement :). I wanted the Ashley Floral MA cover to coordinate with the Regent, but there was no way I was using the gray straps with the AF. That would have been just plain fugly. So I ordered the AF cover and tan straps. As my luck would have it, as soon as I got the cover and the new straps (and adjuster, etc. - those all HAVE to match), I found that the recline mechanism on the MA was broken and Britax replaced the seat. I went with the Crocodile MA so I would have an extra set of tan straps. I have to say, though - now that I have the Madison Regent and the AF MA, I  how well they coordinate and how they look in my car. But I will admit that if I could ever convince Kaylie to ditch the Madison cover for the Blue Bouquet, I would do it in a heartbeat. I love that cover!

So I guess the bottom line for me is that the straps have to coordinate with the covers, but the covers don't have to match or coordinate. There are too many cute girly options to choose from. I prefer to let the girls choose the covers they like best.

I like themes as well. I wanted zebra and cowmoo in one car, or a cougar regent. Rigt now I have a girly seat theme, w/ the princess RA and Mariposa MA. I think they look good together.

Joel's seat doesn't match the car. We have a gray one in my car which has a tan interior. And a mosy oak cover in the truck. So it doesn't matter to me, the seats go with the boy. I put little iron-on sports patches on his gray seat so now it totally clashes but it fits my son.

I genuinely don't care if they match or not, and I'm not that picky about colors in general. DH doesn't like girly covers in his car, and I would draw the line at say a mustard yellow or pea-soup green cover, but otherwise it's not a big deal for us.

DH and I recently discovered a pitfall of having straps and cover closely matching a dark vehicle interior color. Our Midnight Desert Signo has black straps, black shell and base, and a partially black cover. Our Scion xB has a dark charcoal gray interior and it might as well be called black because it's quite dark. The lack of contrast makes it fairly challenging to buckle in DD2 after dark or in a dimly lit garage with only the faint glow of the car's overhead dome light. We joked about needing a miner's helmet with a headlight to help see what we're doing.

It doesn't matter to me. As long as the kids' seats are cute and they like them, then it's fine with me. The problem I keep running into is that I'm getting a MA cover addiction. ihave a list of covers I want for both kids and one of them is matching cowmoo covers and then it'll bother me that their straps aren't the same color. Oh well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! lol Maybe I'll just have to get an extra set of tan straps for DS.

Most of my seats match by default.

I have an Uptown, Scenera, AOE, Comfortsport and FPSVD. All seats are blue, except the Comfortsport and FPSVD, which are black. My car is blue with black interior, so all seats match the car, technically. But it just happened to work out the way.

If I ever got a cowmoo cover again I would put black straps on it. I dont like the tan or the grey straps on that cover. They both clash IMO

I'm big on matching. For a long time I had boring denim seats because I wanted the star risers to match the marathon. I now have green marathon, flower marathon, tan parkway, and tan prospect. I really want a radian but I will not buy a brown seat with gray straps. :D

Given your choices though it would be more important to me that the straps match the cover then the covers match each other.
