We're visiting my parents and their car does not have a top tether anchor point. Does anyone know who my parents need to call to get one installed? I did a quick search and Queensland Transport said to call RACQ.

I want to know exactly who they are to call and what terminology they should use when asking for it. My parents are not car-seat literate, they thought it was fine to put a 1 yo in a booster they borrowed from friends, that didn't happen as the 1 yo was my DS. So, I want this to be as easy as possible to arrange.

It's a 1999 or 2000 hatchback honda civic - I hope they can put one in the center I got a good install using the lapbelt last time we visited. If it's the side, I'll have to practice using a locking clip.

Thanks.

Being that it's an australian vehicle i'd have thought it would already have a factory installed anchor point or at least a pre drilled one. Just get them to call RACQ and ask about getting an anchor bolt fitted. It's not as technical and cost inhibitive as it is in the states.

I think it was bought just before they had to have top tethers. There's no Latch/Isofix either. I am taking my dad's word about the top tether, I didn't even look last time we were there as DS was RF. It might have the tether and he just doesn't know it, or I think it could be pre-drilled. I'm kind of loathe to even go into it, until I'm there. DS does still fit RF in the Uptown, so I might have him ride that way until I can check out the car manual etc.

I'll call Dad and find out more information about the car, the exact year and model, and then I'll either call Honda Australia or RACQ to work out what to do about the top tether - maybe it is there and I just have to find it!
