I have a question for people who have brought their car seats from other countries into Australia, or know people who have. Or anyone who has bought a child restraint and had it shipped to them in Australia.
(Background - my ds is 12kg and 10 months - he has outgrown the RF limit on his seat which has the highest RF limit in Australia. I would like to buy a Brio Zento or Britax Multitech for him, but they are unavaible here due to different safety standards. But I am concerned about it getting past customs....)
How did you do it?

On the customs note i got the seller to add its a "gift".. both my boys seats arrived within 2 weeks of purchase.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, this is an ongoing drama for me.
I've been looking at the NIB britax Boulevards on ebay...butterfly twins no longer stocks car seats...
So how were they shipped? usps ? One seller is saying $325 shipping, because it's too big for usps?
Thanks for your time...

hi there, the postage total for each seat, i got two @$130.00 each was $260.00 US dollars ,they were shipped by USPS priority Mail
ive just pulled out my reciept and the seller wrote "car seat" in description and ticked the contents as "gift."
hope this helps..im looking at getting either a Britax Marathon or a Graco Sungride for our next bubba due in Nov but i figure ive got lots of time to get it.
Hopefully the new higher weight seat comming sometime this year arn't far away.
good luck in your search

I have had no problem having seats shipped over.
I just looked up the United States Post Office fee for shipping and it would cost you about $110-121.00 US dollars which would be about $125-137 AU. They do not list any shipping sizes, it goes by weight.
Amazon.com has them on sale right now and you can use a overseas cc w/ them and if you knew some one in the states you could have it posted to them, then you could paypal them the money for postage to have them ship it here.
Some people will try to over charge you for shipping from the states. You have to be very careful.
I love my Blvd! And I think that it would be a great seat for you.
Good luck in getting a seat for him.

Thanks for your reply..
Yes I looked up the seat package weight and dimensions in Amazon and then looked on usps. I came up with $110US too - it's funny, even with that postage it still works out cheaper than the $550 I paid for my Meridien AHR...
usps does have a size limitation, and it looks like the Boulevard is a bit bigger than that - but if you have got them through it probably should be OK? :
From usps:
235.21 Rectangular Parcels
1. Minimum length and width: 5-1/2 inches x 3-1/2 inches.
2. Maximum length: 42 inches.
3. Maximum length and girth combined: 79 inches.
From Amazon - box dimensions:
Product Details
* Product Dimensions: 19.9 x 24.8 x 27.1 inches ; 24.6 pounds
I'm hoping because it's alot shorter than their maximum length, that they won't realise it's girth makes it too big.....
It's kind of a gamble, because if it gets stopped, I lose my money...hmmmmm
THanks for your reply in the other thread, and I'm glad that you love your Boulevard. I need to think and pray some more, but I think I"ll end up going with it.

If you were to buy it at Target in the states, the person can always return it for you if it is too big to ship.
If you go to some other sites like Target.com, Babycenter.com or elitecarseats.com they may have different box dimensions.
I did not have mine shipped over I brought it back w/ me, but I did have a Britax Regent sent over with no problems.
Good luck, their are some sales on it right now. If you go to epinions.com they will list several retailers w/ the price of the seat for you to compare.
