View Full Version : Noodle use with a boulevard and seat belt issues

I have a RF Boulevard, I have a hard time keeping it at the angle I want. I have it pulled back from the seat bite to get a more up right install so that the seat in front can be all the way back, plus my son prefers it that way. Well within a week or so it has slid back against the seat and it way too reclined and as it slides the belt becomes loose. SO my question is can i put a noodle between it and the seat bite or one cut in half just to keep it where it needs to be?
I also have issues with the seat belt staying tight. I can't get the lock offs to close around my seat belt and I have had techs look at it and even they can't get it to stay closed for more than a min. I have an appointment with another tech on Wednesday but I don't expect it to be any different. I have locking latch plates that don't really work in any position.

Did you try flipping the male end a half turn?

Britax says it's ok now to use a noodle with their seats. Your seat is in the recline position? And I agree with PP, flip the male end 180 degrees. That'll keep your belt from slipping. The RFing lockoffs are a PITA.

I have it flipped and it is still slipping.
I have had it flipped for about 2 weeks and had to tighten it 3 time already once was today.

The male end is flipped and it's still slipping? I didn't know that was possible. What car do you drive? It's a shoulder and lap belt? All three belts across the backseat are the same?

I drive a 99 Dodge grand Caravan. My thrid row has 2 sholder/lap belts and only lap belt only. I have a Regent outboard drivers side and it takes teh whole belt so don't have a problem there. My boulevard is outaboard passenger side and it has the Shoulder belt lock off and it actually works nothing in the middle since there is no room.
Then my middle bench has two shoulder/lap belts and both f them slip the one where it is slipps more but the other one makes it almost impossible to buckle the others in and trips them up and they loosen if by stepping on it. I am in a bad possition.
I think flipping it would work if the stalk was longer but it is really close the the seat of the car so there is so much room there it is easy enough that I can tighten it with it buckled.

No, don't flip the stalk, flip the buckle itself. The male end (the stalk is the female end). Leave the stalk where it is.
The kids have to walk through the seatbelt, or over it or whatever, to get to the seats in the third row? What else is on the middle bench? Or were you saying that you have his seat in the belt that slips more because the other one would block the older kids? That part of your message was a bit garbled.

the seat blet is mounted against the corner of the floor and wall and there is room there to move the three bench forward and my middle bench is only a two seat so the middle of the middle leaves the kids haveing to climb over the bottom part of the seat blet which they step on despite my asking them not to yelling at them not to, no matter what so it does end up loosening even quicker in that spot if no one is getting in the back it stays better. The other side which is drivers side losens on its own over tiem within less than a week.

I have nothing else on the middle bench as I use it for my friends Regent when she is with me or for Grandma when she is with us (that way I can make sure she is using her seat belt and reach her to smack her if she doesn't) (yes we have had issues with this)

The lockoffs won't hold, and the belt slips if you flip it 180. What happens if you flip it 360?
After that I'd call Britax and see if they'd ok a locking clip for you. Or a new seat with better lockoffs. When was your seat made? They changed the lockoffs last August. They just flipped them around, but it may make a difference, if you have the older design. The lockoffs have been a sticking point (or rather, have NOT been sticking) for a lot of people.

mine are all I think either 05 or 06 can't remember off the top of my head. They have sent me new lockoffs but they are the same and they tell me it is my problem if there is a compatablility issue.

How do I get a new seat out of them. My DH wants to just turn ours around and install them the other way but I won't let him as it is not tested that way. I did ask about a locking clip and they said absolutly not. But the techs at one plave I went say they always just go to useing a locking clip when the ones on teh seat don't work. I am not sure what to do. I have to keep using this seat as it is the only one I have
I have tried it in the thrid row and have issues with the stalkes back there being too long and they are in the way even with 3 twists for RF.

OKay I am going out today to try the 360 flip and see if it will hold then. Thanks so much. I can't wait for Wednesday to see a tech. I really wish one of you form here was near me as I know you guys are awesome. I am not sure who I am seeing so I can't see if they are cert with safe kids.

Ask them if they are. They *should* have their card with them (I admit, I don't carry mine with me, I should. You reminded me, I just printed out another copy). If not, they should have a six digit tech number (at least mine is six digits) preceded by a T. T123456 or something like that.
Maybe you can post in a new thread asking if anyone is in your area?
