I haven't gotten the wider buckle tongues yet. I have to have it shipped to DH's family in Indiana, hopefully we'll be visiting them for Easter so I'll have my new carseat parts after then. The parts apparently aren't approved for use in Canada so SKJP can't ship them to me (According to Russ, some Canadians on the other board have claimed that SK shipped the parts to them though.)

Anyways, so I still have the original, narrow buckle tongues. They're supposed to be easier to use so that they stay in place and you don't have to go searching for them under DC's bum. But they're so tight on the straps that the sides of the straps are fraying. I know with some Britax seats, people got them replaced because the strap was fraying. So is that dangerous?

DH is an engineer and tells me it's fine but I'm not convinced. I'm really disappointed actually. We only just got this seat in September, so less than 6 months old. It's supposed to last 8 years? I can just imagine how bad the straps will look in another 7.5 years. Scary thought.

I can take pictures if that would help.

Straps go through serious abrasion testing, that the fraying honestly does not scare me.

I replaced mine because I don't like the straps folding over in the narrow buckle tongues. It eventually leads to twisted straps and drives me crazy. I got all four sets of my wider buckle tongues from Russ.

I know that others have contacted the Canadian distributor for SKJP and gotten the wider buckle tongues with no issues. Maybe try that and quote the folding over as your issue and NOT the fraying of the straps?

The crotch buckle is *not* available in Canada.

I asked Russ about the folding over when I first got the seat and he said they can't ship it to me. If I have relatives in the States, however, they can purchase the parts and do whatever they wish with them. He said if they chose to ship them to someone else, he had no control over it. But I can't order them directly from SK.

SKJP Canada *can* and *will* ship them out to you.

I'm not sure why Russ can't ship them to you as he shipped all four sets of mine to me (I'm in Alberta).

When did you order yours? Maybe they've changed their policy? :(
I'll get them either way. I was just concerned about the straps fraying. I tried to take a picture of them but it's so cold and dark that all the pictures were blurry even with the flash on my camera.
