It looks too reclined to me. I am not a tech yet though. If you want it more upright, push down on the foot of the seat(where they childs feet go) while you are tightening the seatbelt. Then if it is too upright, you can adjust the recline slightly with the tether.

Question about your tether. Where is it attached? It looks a little high.

It appears to be. I see she is older. Does she like more of a recline? Be sure to not torque down too much on the tether. It should be taut, but not tight. I would try re-installing and use the tips the above poster said.

It is tethered where the console part of the front seat is bolted to the floor, its the only place I can tether it. I did push down on the front part when I installed it but I will try again thanks

Before you tighten it down, pull the base a little bit away from the seatbite (crack of the seat). This will help you get more of an upright install.
