First I'd like to say the coat is paper thin and the straps are just as tight without it. I do not have to adjust. The other day I wanted to try again to make it more upright, I did, slightly. Today when I put her in the straps were very tight, like the adjuster was all the way out. when I got her in I noticed her shoulders were really high. They are even with the seat slot, not the cover (it's higher than the seat). If you compare the pics you'll see the difference, it's like her torso grew 2 inches. What happened?! This fit her before I adjusted the seat.

Kids often fit in seats differently when the seats are actually installed vs. sitting on flat ground. Something about the recline.

If you're comfortable with her shoulders being even with the slots, go ahead and leave the harness where it is, but keep checking.

Either way, it looks like she still has a lot of growing room in the seat.

Remember, too, the more you install it, the better you'll get at it!

The problem is the seat has been installed for a couple weeks. I did this two days ago. That morning the slot was at the height you see in the first pics. That day I tried to get it more upright (got the recline bar up about inch and a half) and this is what happened. I didn't take any pics with her in the seat when I first installed.

When you make a seat more upright for some reason it makes the child sit up higher in the seat so it will change where her shoulders hit compared to the slot.

A good example go sit in your driver seat. Recline the seat some and notice where your shoulders hit on the seatback. Now raise the seat to the upright position and you will notice your shoulder are now higher then when it was reclined even a little bit.

It looks like it may still be a tad above her should. You probably have a few months maybe more depending on her growth.

And it could take her a couple years before her torso gets too tall for the seat...so don't freak out.
