Does anyone know if there are tether anchors already installed on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee? If not, what is the part number to tell my local dealership? Are they supposed to install the tether kit for free or do I have to pay for it? If they are supposed to install it for free, does someone have an official document that states that? I called my local dealer and they are clueless about tethers.

The '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't have factory equipped top tether anchors. A top tether anchor can be retrofitted for the center rear seating position, part number 04728952AB, and it should be done for free under Chrysler Technical Service Bulletin 23-008-00 Rev. B.
Chrysler/Jeep branded sections of the LATCH manual are online because they were updated shortly after the 2007 edition of the LATCH manual was printed last spring, so you're in luck for written "proof" of the above info. to show the dealer. :) You can print the Jeep .pdf file version out from this link:

Thank you so much for your quick reply!
I think I am going to try another dealership in the area and see if they are more knowledgeable.
Now I just have to wait for the Regent to get here. I can't wait for my DS to try it out.
