My sister is finally back from her vacation so I was able to play with the Regent in her car. I only tried installing the seat with the recline bar today, I can try it without tomorrow but Avi was running around the car and making me crazy so I wanted to be done as soon as possible. The seatbelt on the passenger seat in the back is twisted, which neither of us realized. I installed the seat with Latch since Avi is only 41 lbs, and my sister will take the car in to Nissan one day since neither of us could fix the seatbelt. My test seatbelt installations are on the drivers side captains chair.

My first impressions with Avi in this seat:

It will last him a while. He was just a touch above the 3rd slots down when I sat him in the seat to see how he fit, but he seemed to move down as he sat, so I will check again tomorrow with a ruler in hand. I moved the straps up since I was not sure. He has a ton more room than he had when I bought the GN. In the GN he would be using the top slots with as much room as he has now in the Regent with the 2nd from the top slots. Avi also liked that he could climb into the seat much more easily. The harness was more twisty than the MA/DC, but it was not horrible. I like the little holders for the chest clip.

BTW the DOM is 6/11/07, so pre-advisory. I have not yet ordered the advisory kit from Britax. If I understand correctly I do not have to follow the advisory as long as I do not install the kit. Is that correct?

YAY, a new carseat

Just at the lower slot, I am going to use a straight edge/ruler and see if he is above.

Without my needing to tell my sister she took Avi's light jacket off in the car and gave him this fleece blanket. I wasn't going to make a big deal because it is a sweatshirt that wouldn't really have compression issues but...

Just a little bit over the edge of the captains chair. I pushed it as far back as possible and could not get it to go back any more

Long Belt path, with recline bar and tether. I liked this installation a lot more than short belt path, it felt a lot more secure

Short Belt path with recline bar and tether, I didn't feel like it was that secure. Did I route the belt right?

SBP pulled on the seatbelt

Latch: does it look right?

Thanks. This was only my 2nd day playing with the seat, so any tips would be much appreciated.

He looks great in it! so much more room than the DC.

Make sure you're judging his height against the actual shell and not the cover (which can slip and be an inaccurate gauge).

It can hang over the edge a little. It's fine as long as at least 80% of the base is on the vehicle seat.

Pre-advisory DOM means you can use the manual that came with it or the updated instructions. If you order and add the kit, then you have to follow the new instructions.

I can't tell for sure on the routing, but they look fine as far as I can tell. :)

If I recall from reading the manual - when installing short belt path with LATCH the latch needs to go UNDER the recline bar - so it needs to come up on the inside of the bar not the outside.

from the manual pg 24: • Long Route Installation
When using the long route installation,
the LATCH strap or vehicle belt strap must
pass outside of the recline bar. (Fig. C)
• Short Route Installation
When using the short route installation,
the LATCH strap or vehicle belt strap must
pass through the inside of the recline bar.
(Fig. D) When using the lap-shoulder
belt however, the strap must pass on the
outside of the recline bar.

SBP + recline bar does feel weird at first. You could try reclining the vehicle seat one or two more clicks and see if that feels better to you.

And yes, I think the PP is right about the SBP LATCH needing to go under the bar - check your manual. :)

Also - I miss Avi's curls! :D
