OK...I'm visiting my BFF this week and we will be riding together. We have 3 seats: a Graco Comfortsport that could is currently FFing, but I could convince her to go RFing, and a MA that's FFing. Now for the 3rd seat, I have 2 options. I can either use my Safeseat with or without the base or an Evenflo Titan.

I have one FFing, one RFing and one that is FFing, but could be RFing.

I drive a 2004 Saturn VUE with latch. She has a (unknown) year Dodge Durango without latch and the seatbelts don't lock. I personally would rather drive me car.

Install my seats please......

Put the one that is to go FF in the center the other 2 outboard!

RF is safer than FF so the FF child is less protected.

Just my :twocents:

OH I dont know what type of belts she has in her car but you should have her check it out as you cant install the MA in a car with Non-locking ELR two point vehicle belts.

Of course I have no idea what that is But i recall seeing it in the manual for the MA.

Hopefully someone else will chime in!

If it's a Dodge it likely has lightweight locking (cinching) latchplates. They'll lock if they're in just the right position...Otherwise you have to use a locking clip.

A non-locking two point ELR belt is simply a lapbelt that only locks up in a sudden stop or crash. :) There aren't too many of those (except in much, much older vehicles), and I'm sure the Durango and Vue don't have those, so no worries.

Before resorting to a locking clip try flipping the latchplate ONE time (a half-twist) and buckling. That generally takes care of any slippage issues and eliminates the need for a locking clip. Only if it continues to slip after the twist at the latchplate go for the locking clip.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna try to put all three in my car the VUE. I installed her comfortsport awhile back and we ended up having to use the Locking clip to keep it in. That was when her DD was RFing. She had this issue with her middle seat: it was so "soft" that you couldnt' get a tight fit. The vehicle seat would just keep getting "squished" down lower and lower and the carseat would still be loose. We installed RFing on the passenger outboard with the shoulder harness seat belt. That was the one that would lock. Her DD is now FFing. and I think she was able to get a pretty tight fit in the center with the regular lap belt without the locking clip
