View Full Version : The pool noodle is too much

Without the pool noodle DS's head would fall forward SOMETIMES when he was sleeping. Since I had to take it out anyway, I put the BLVD back in with a pool noodle. It is SO reclined. He actually doesn't seem to care too much, but it makes a big impact on my seat moving back. Can I cut it in half and just use half of it?

Yup, but is the angle just borderline enough that you can fix it with the Boulevard's rear facing tether?

Nope, when the tether is pulled as tight as DH and I can get it together his head still falls sometimes. Not all the time, and sometimes he fixes it himself. I think if he was in a MA and not a BLVD it would be fine.
So I CAN cut the pool noddle in half (longways)?

yes, you can cut it lengthwise. a serrated knife works best. :)
Do you know about what angle it is at now? Are you putting pressure toward the front or the back of the BLVD? Putting pressure more toward the back and getting the base as close the to seat bight as you can will yield a more reclined install.

I don't know the current angle. I posted a pic of the last angle. I am waiting on a new seat in the mail, when it comes I will try to install it with it more into the bight. It is outboard (because I absolutely cannot get it in the center) and I am using LATCH. The LATCH kind of determines the position of it, but I will try shoving it more into the bight for sure. Thanks.

And something to cover your mouth & nose, or else you'll be coughing up foam-tasting flem for a few days.
Why yes, I do know from experience... ;)

I reinstalled it by pushing the base into the bight. It worked very well. Too well actually, it is just as reclined as it was with the pool noodle. I'm impressed and how much difference it makes! Next time I will go somewhere in between. Thanks!

You can also loosen it up a bit and put your pressure toward the front of the seat as you retighten (over where the child's legs go). The Britax convertibles are relatively easy to adjust without completely uninstalling. :)
