Hi,
We are having trouble installing our Regent in our 2000 Tahoe. I really want to have the seat in the middle, as our dd is the only child back there.

DD is 4 yo, 30 lbs, about 41"
Car: 2000 Tahoe, No latch, has anchor for top teather, no recline in any seats
Middle of seat has the fold down thing with console/cup holders, and no headrest, lap belt only in middle

What is happening is the recline bar is either going into the bight of the seat or just right above it. It does not angle up when I have the seat in the middle seat position.

We have to use the long route now.We have tightened as much as we physically can and the seat still has side to side sliding.

I think I have told you everything that you would need to know!
If anyone has any ideas or sugg. we would love to hear them! I am so frustrated, b/c I just can't get this seat in tight! Thanks! Kelly

In latch the lap belt and tighten if a little more to where it does not quite reach the buckle to get it buckled or twist the buckle stalk. You can do this 3 full twists. Then try putting the recline bar where it needs to be and then push on the front of the regent with your knees to get it pushed more into the vehicle seat. Also make sure your recline bar is all of the way in.

ETA: It will be easier with 2 people. YOu will probably have to put you knee on the Regent on the buckle side for the othe person to actually buckle it.

Your most likely going to have to put the recline bar in the seat bit. That is where my recline bar is on my '05 Tahoe but I have caption chairs in my 2nd row.

With GM vehicle they have long belt stalks (female end of the buckle) so twisting it up to 3 full (360 degrees= 1 twist) twists will help. Have someone get into the seat to bare their weight in it and then the other tighten the seatbelt. This should help.

I will be honest you won't get a good install in the center when you go to the short belt path. My dh has an '02 Silverado which has pretty close to the same rear seats of the Tahoe bench. I can not get a good install in the center of his truck with the Regent even twisting the belt stalks. They are just to long. But, I am comfortable with both my girls sitting in the outboard position with perfect installed seats over the center not so good install.

Thank you both! Twisting the stalks is one thing that we haven't tried yet. Nor have we tried having two people install it at the same time. i will let you know how it works when we are both here at the same time! :) Thanks for the ideas! Kelly

I have an 03 Tahoe with leather and I also found that bracing yourself--pushing the seat inward with your knees and pulling on the excess really helped to tighten it up. Then I got into the seat, and pulled the excess as well..then I tethered it. It took me a few times when I installed my dd's outboard using the SBP, but I got it :) My recline bars are right above the bight of the seat.

Ok, I unbuckled the seat belt yesterday, twisted the bottom part 3 times around, pushed the seat in as hard as i could, sat in it, got it buckled again, pulled it as tight as I could, (the belt feels REALLY tight) AND the seat still slides side to side. It feels like it doesn't slide much at first and when I push/pull it more it slides even more.
The recline bar is in, I pounded it in. It is just barely above the seat bight.
Any more suggestions? I still have to try it with dh. THanks a lot! Kelly

Do you have caption chairs or a bench seat? Also what position are you installing it in?

Hi, we have a 60/40 split seat and we are installing it in the middle with a lap belt.

But,,, I think we got it now. i am going to try and attach pictures so you can see what it looks like.

The recline bar goes somewhat into the middle, but it is impossible to have it angle up in the middle postion,

Let me know what you think... THANK YOU!!! Kelly

From what I can tell it looks good to me.

Does the middle position recline at all? If so try reclining the vehicle seat then install the Regent (don't top tether just yet). Then pull the vehicle seat back up into the upright position. It will cause the recline bar to be in the seat bite but that is okay. It should be nice in tight once the seatback is back upright. Then top tether the Regent. This is what I have to do to get a solid install with our Regent in our caption chair pass outboard.

Thank you so much for your help. Our seats do not recline, but it is in REALLY tight right now. It doesn't move! YEAH! I just hope it's the recline bar is ok where it is! Thanks again, Kelly

I have no issues where your recline bar is. I have since removed the shelf grip liner as it was starting to stick to the seat. I was scared it would melt it esp in Texas summers.

Here is where my recline bar is on my Tahoe.

That's good! thanks! I think ours is similar to yours. It did take both of us working on it together to get it right. It doesn't move now, so we feel good about it. :) Thanks!
