I think I'm taking the class at the end of the month (sent the check in) and want to know what to expect...and what I could possibly study BEFOREHAND so I'll be prepared.

Also, I've read a little bit about how instructors would use our cars for demonstrating installs, but I can't really leave DH with two kids for a weekend with no car...is that going to be a problem?

Just being here is generally quite the advantage when it comes time to take the course...also, having an interest in child passenger safety AND having your own children will help you absorb the information further.

As for the car situation--it's possible for TWO people to do installs in each vehicle at a time, so with instructor vehicles and some of the class members' vehicles, there will be enough cars. Don't worry about not having your own vehicle there.

Keep in mind that this is Alberta specific, but I found it a good starting point before going in to the course: (it's the Alberta Occupant Restraint Manual)
http://www.calgaryhealthregion.ca/hecomm/IPC/Resources/AORPmanual.pdf

Not the same level of detail, and not as wide a base as what you'll learn in the course, but there are some things in the AORP manual that will be in the program, and more background knowledge is always helpful IMO. ;)
