Any Canadian member has contact Safeguard about their seats?
Anybody knows if they will approved by TC?:scratcheshead:

I don't know off hand of anyone who has ever contacted them.
To be perfectly honest, the safeguard is a $350 to $400 seat in the US if I'm not mistaken. If it was sold in Canada that would make it easily be around $450, and I just don't see a seat that expensive selling.
What's the weight limit on the Safeguard? If it's more than 65lbs, it wouldn't get approved unless they wanted to test it & certify it to the lower weight of 65lbs. That's what I've heard the holdup has been with the Regent anyways.

I totally agree about the pricing.. The Marathon didn't even take off here until the price was lowered from the original $350 down to $299. Nobody wanted to pay $350 for a seat.

Well, very true!
I still remember I have a hard time finding the Marathon back in 04 (when they first appears up here in Canada) and we paid $349 for it and that's the best price we can find at that time!
I really like the regent but if no other choice available in the next month or so I guess Nautilus will be the solution! And its a lot cheaper!:D

Yep, there's a huge difference in terms of mental blocks when you look at $299 vs $349. You cross into $400 territory and I know I'd never consider buying one - not with so many other options that will last almost as long.

I recently contacted IMMI and this is what they told me:
Right now, SafeGuard has been concentrating upon introducing the seats to the US. I really do not have any type of an answer as to whether SafeGuard will pursue distribution to Canada. I do know that I have been compiling contact information. I suppose that if SafeGuard received enough of a response that they would look into the process of becoming compliant. There is nothing set or planned at this time.
Thank you for your inquiry!

The SG would be too expensive and given there are now a few HHW seats on the market, I can't see it make business sense for SG to bring it into Canada. They still have a lot to do to make its seats more 'mainstream' in the US and I can understand it not interested in the much smaller market like ours.

This is the reply I got today looks like it we will never get it or at least for a while:
Dear xxxxx,
Thank you for your interest in SafeGuard!
I am sorry to inform you that the SafeGuard Seats are NOT Canadian
Certified to be distributed in Canada.
There are different testing requirements and label requirements that
SafeGuard is not presently in pursuit to try to meet the certification.
I can be reached at XXXXXXXXXXXXX, if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,

Keep in mind--this doesn't stop Canadians from obtaining and legally using the Go while on vacations in the United States or in foreign countries (depending on local laws).. I have a Go just for this purpose, as it's much easier to transport.

Never thought of it but yeah, that's a great idea if you have to travel South of the border and has to do that in different vehicles (still complying the local law)
